Whispers 2a

Times are lean. My husband’s back injury such that he is unable to work, the year 1985. School and working as a Medical Assistant making enough to cover groceries. A disability policy covered the house payment.

Prayer, I prayed for everything. Grandma Johnson, my maternal grandmother, prayed me through nursing school, she prayed specifically when I studied and when I would test. I would call and say. “Grandma, pray for retention now while I study the muscles of the body.” She’s a prayer warrior. One day on my shopping list toothpaste. The mail came and yes toothpaste arrives in the mail. Later, that year Christmas causing much anxiety. My sons, eleven and eight, knew daddy did not work but we never told them money. Grandma reminded me to pray. Shortly, a knock on the door and my church brought us a turkey, all the fixings, a grocery card and $150. 00. God is in the business of answering prayers.

During my quiet time this morning after writing my scripture and reading the book Fervent, I wrote this poem.

Father God,
I praise you in the morning
You created morning
You called morning good
I stand amazed at the beautiful morning.
I praise you, you are good.
You are Good all the time
All the time You are Good
I stand amazed at Your Goodness
I praise you, You are mercy
You are Merciful
Your mercies are new every morning
I stand amazed at Your Mercy.
I praise you, Your are Love
You are Loving
I stand amazed that you love me
I place my HOPE in you and I am in awe of you majesty In Jesus’ name Amen.

In Fervent, she tells the story about Elisha where his servant gets up in 2 King 6 and goes outside to see the army of chariots and comes back in afraid. Elisha prays,

So he answered, “Do not fear, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” Then Elisha prayed and said, “O LORD, I pray, open his eyes that he may see.” And the LORD opened the servant’s eyes and he saw; and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.

Just as the Lord met my needs in 1985 and sent me toothpaste in the mail, the Lord is whispering to me that we need to pray more. Tomorrow Love God Greatly.com will begin a study on prayer using the SOAP method. S is for Scripture. A person writes out the scripture. O is for Observation. What do you observe, who, how, where, when questions. A is for Application. How can one apply this verse? P is for pray. write a prayer to God.  Here is the link to the journal: https://www.dropbox.com/s/5bdafc9y9cyvjin/Journal_Download.pdf?dl=0 .

Beloved God will meet your needs. [Tweet “Prayer is our gift from God. He wants you to use the gift. “]
