Read Matthew 5:13-14
Grandma Johnson could cook, her homemade dinner rolls, chicken and dumplings, fried catfish, but her chocolate pie had healing powers. She taught me how to pray, to tithe, to love God with all my heart, and to never ever learn how to clean catfish. I shared one day I was struggling with making gravy, she said she would send me the recipe, instead of the recipe, I received…..
When we accept Jesus as our savior, we become God’s daughters. We are significant in the eyes of God. So significant that He calls us and knows us by other names, yes one name is salt and light of the earth. But today, I would like to focus on being the Salt of the earth.
Salt is a mineral an important one in our bodies, sodium is important for maintaining fluid balance in the cells throughout the body. Also, sodium ions is important for nerve function. Additionally, salt preserves food. We find salt in our frozen foods, canned goods, truthfully it is hard to find foods that do not have salt and when you do the taste is not as good. Our verse declares that we are the salt of the earth and the light of the world. In Mark 9: 30 we read that salt is good, and good for seasoning and in Leviticus 2:13 the Israelites were instructed to use salt in their offerings. How can we be salt to those around us? Are you willing to be used of God freely?
Beloved, God calls you the Salt of the earth. We are so important to Him. We can’t live without this important mineral. Are you in God’s word daily?
Grandma not only sent me the recipe she sent me two envelopes in the package with an applesauce cake that day, the specific amount of flour to make gravy and the perfect amount of salt.
Father God, Let my life be so full of flavor that those around me are drawn to me so that I can share you with them. In Jesus Name Amen.
Today make a list of the things you are thankful for and find a new recipe to cook for your family.
