    ˈyäˌwā,-ˌwe,-ˌvā/
    noun
    1. a form of the Hebrew name of God used in the Bible. The name came to be regarded “by Jews ( circa 300 BC) as too sacred to be spoken, and the vowel sounds are uncertain.

Chapter 3 of Exodus we find Moses tending sheep for his father-in-law Jethro. The flock of sheep far in the wilderness close to Sinai the mountain of God. Daily Moses shepherded the sheep as sheep must have a shepherd and sheep know their shepherd’s voice. One day as the sheep grazing Moses saw a blazing bush. The angel of the Lord appeared to Moses in this bush from the middle. .The scripture in Exodus 3: 2-3 Moses stares at in amazement. The bush engulfed in flames but it did not burn up. Moses must have scratched his head in his wonderment before he said to himself verse 4, “Why isn’t that bush burning up? I must go see it!” (emphasis mine).

God speaks to Moses, “Moses, Moses,”  Moses replied, “Here I am.”  “God says, “Take off your sandals, you are standing on holy ground!” Beloved, in John 10:14 the Bible says, ““I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me.” God knew Moses, just as He knows you, He knew all of Moses’ faults and he knows ours yet he wants to use each one of us. What is God asking you to do?

God tells Moses his plan. Exodus 3:7-10

The Lord said, “I have indeed seen the misery of my people in Egypt. I have heard them crying out because of their slave drivers, and I am concerned about their suffering. So I have come down to rescue them from the hand of the Egyptians and to bring them up out of that land into a good and spacious land, a land flowing with milk and honey—the home of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites. And now the cry of the Israelites has reached me, and I have seen the way the Egyptians are oppressing them. So now, go. I am sending you to Pharaoh to bring my people the Israelites out of Egypt.”

Moses protest to God, “Who am I to appear to Pharaoh? Who am I to lead the people of Israel out of Egypt?  At this point, beloved can you relate? Has fear prevented you from doing something for God?  Then God reassure Moses that God will be with you. Moses continues to question God in verse 13, Moses said to God, “Suppose I go to the Israelites and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is his name?’ Then what shall I tell them?”

    God is Yahweh.

God said to Moses, “I am who I am.c This is what you are to say to the Israelites: ‘I am has sent me to you.’ ”

God also said to Moses, “Say to the Israelites, ‘The Lord, the God of your fathers—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob—has sent me to you.’

“This is my name forever, the name you shall call me from generation to generation.

Beloved do you know the I am, Yahweh. Has God called you out of Egypt?
