    31 Day Writings Uncategorized

Adventures on the dusty road involve God’s scripture

Beloved, daily on the dusty road I live on, I see the beauty of God’s creation: tall trees, a hay field, cows, sheep, horses, goats, bunnies, possums, and skunks. The best part is that besides our little dog, I don’t have to care for the lions, tigers, and bears. Oh my!

Currently, we have snow. The snow is fluffy, the baby calf in the pasture is so cute, her face nuzzling the white snow, and the look she gives her mom is priceless. About four cows and their babies have separated from the rest of the herd, so we have a regular Little House on the Prairie scene if you look out our front windows.

    Verse

All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.”

    Word

Sweet friend, our word today is scripture. The definition is the sacred writings of Christianity contained in the Bible. Fifty-five verses contain the word scripture. Daily, I write God’s word in at least one verse. My newest practice is I’m praying for a specific scripture for friends who have asked; this week is Nancy and Darla, and the verses are important to each one of them. I’ve written the specific scripture out with their requests for the week. Who are you praying for?

The God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ,[a] will himself restore, establish, strengthen, and support you after you have suffered a little while. 1 Peter 5:10

Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
    and do not rely on your own understanding;
in all your ways know him,
and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6

I am able to do all things through him[a] who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13

    Faithfulness

In David Jeremiah’s book, Encouraging Words for Discouraging Times Study Guide, God Has Not Forsaken You!

    • Because God is Faithful, we can have confidence when we pray;  Psalm 143:1
    • Because God is Faithful, we can conquer evil and temptation;  Matthew 6:13
    • Because God is Faithful, we can praise Him;  Psalm 89:1
    • Because God is Faithful, we can have courage when we are afraid. Lamentations 3: 22-23

God is faithful, in Genesis 8: 22 says,

As long as the earth endures,
seedtime and harvest, cold and heat,
summer and winter, and day and night
    will not cease.”

    Thoughts

Our reading in Genesis 30-33, is the competition between Jacob’s two wives and then Jacob fighting for his family. He defies his father-in-law, stands up for himself and his wives, God protects Jacob and his family

Then he meets up with his brother Esau. Such a precious picture of reunion and forgiveness in Chapter 33.

We see how blessing comes with struggle. Through it all we see God’s faithfulness. Many miles are covered on a dusty road. What struggle might you be facing? Do you need to reconcile with someone?

Tomorrow we will cover Genesis 34-37.

    Prayer

    Father God,

Give me a love for your word. Reconcile your word in my heart. Allow me to understand your word and to hide it in my heart. God you are faithful, you are love, you are the alpha, the omega, the beginning and the end. How I adore you. Lord, today, I pray for healing for Nancy, success for Darla, healing for a family member. Lord will be with Michelle, Kath, Ginny, Karen, Rachelle, Shannan, Crissy, Judy, Gracie, Lori, and Susie to meet their needs physically, spiritually, and financially. Recently, a few people have experienced grief and loss, would you surround the Tucker family with love. Others are struggling and I know there are unspoken requests that you know of Lord I lift up these family and friends to you. In Jesus’s name. Amen

Will you start writing scripture? Try John 1:4

In him was life,[a] and that life was the light of men.
