    You Are on Holy Ground

There is a song, “We Are Standing On Holy Ground”  I have sang many times.

Today, this is where we are at in Moses story, talks about standing on holy ground. I had the good fortune to go to Israel in 1995, and while on tour we stood on the top of Megiddo, for Christians the word Megiddo is synonymous with the end of the world as mentioned in the Book of Revelation, Megiddo or Armageddon as it is also known will be the site of the Final Battle. This will be the final battle of many fought here. Megiddo overlooks Israel, and one could understand why this is said to be the site of the Final Battle. The interesting thing is that I slipped while on the top of Megiddo and fell so not only did I stand on holy ground, I fell on holy ground. The angels saved me that day and I was not hurt.

    Psalm 119:159

Read with me on our Bible Faith Hero Moses in Exodus 3

Now Moses was keeping the flock of his father-in-law, Jethro, the priest of Midian, and he led his flock to the west side of the wilderness and came to Horeb, the mountain of God. And the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush. He looked, and behold, the bush was burning, yet it was not consumed. And Moses said, “I will turn aside to see this great sight, why the bush is not burned.” When the Lord saw that he turned aside to see, God called to him out of the bush, “Moses, Moses!” And he said, “Here I am.” Then he said, “Do not come near; take your sandals off your feet, for the place on which you are standing is holy ground.” And he said, “I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.” And Moses hid his face, for he was afraid to look at God. Exodus 3: 1-6.

Although where Moses encounters God is not the site in Israel, this is in the desert where Moses had been living for forty years since he left Egypt. God always knew where Moses was. Beloved, have you fled a situation, have you perhaps ran ahead of God?

    Then

God introduces himself to Moses. He is holy and He is God. Moses, take your sandals off, you are standing on holy ground. I am God of your father…… God has Moses attention, Moses hid his face for he was afraid to look at God.

God says in 1 John 1:9 if we confess our sins, He is just and will forgive us. Moses is about to hear a plan that will shock him. God tells him that God has heard the cries of the Israelites. Moses you are the answer to God’s plan.

Beloved, have you been asked to do something by God but are afraid. Moses brings his objections to God. God shares the whole plan to Moses in Exodus 3 about how God will deliver the people.

We will read this in our next entry on Moses. Right now bask in the story of a planned deliverance and how God met Moses in the desert. Read the rest of Exodus 3.

    Conclusion

We see the reverence Moses shows towards God. Do you remember that God is Holy? Holy is used 611 times in the Bible. Praising God for His Holiness.

Father God, You are Holy, You are the only one worthy of our praise. Thank you for declaring Your Holiness. Thank you for the example of Moses and the reverence he demonstrates. Thank You that he listens when You speak to him and that he takes his questions and doubts to You. I ask for any woman who is feeling doubt that she brings her questions to you and listens for the Your answers. In Jesus’ name Amen.

What doubts do you have? What is God asking you to do?
