    The Grain Offering

    Leviticus 2: 4-8

S If you bring a grain offering baked in an oven, it is to consist of the finest flour: either thick loaves made without yeast and with olive oil mixed in or thin loaves made without yeast and brushed with olive oil. If your grain offering is prepared on a griddle, it is to be made of the finest flour mixed with oil, and without yeast. Crumble it and pour oil on it; it is a grain offering. If your grain offering is cooked in a pan, it is to be made of the finest flour and some olive oil. Bring the grain offering made of these things to the Lord; present it to the priest, who shall take it to the altar.

O The grain offering was to consist of finest flour, olive oil, no yeast. If made on a griddle to be made of finest flour mixed with oil, no yeast. Crumble it and pour oil and make a grain offering. If in a pan finest flour and olive oil. The offering is to be brought to the Lord, present it to the priest, the priest takes it to the altar. (The yeast could ferment, per Dr. Jeremiah the Bible sometimes uses leaven to symbolize sin)

A Offering our best to the Master is to be our goal. We bring our sacrifice of praise to the Lord. Do you give the Lord the first of your day, activities, money? Do you kneel before the Lord and praise him with holy hands?

P Father God, I stand convicted that I often offer praise in a hurry. I do not always offer my best. I let pain get in my way and yes even procrastination. I do not always give the first. Forgive me Lord. Help me Lord to give you my best. Please do not let sin reign in my body. Let me give you all my praise. You are the alpha the omega the beginning the end. I stand in awe of your mercy and grace. I lift up my hands and I offer a sacrifice of praise. In Jesus Holy Name Amen.

Beloved, the aroma of bread baking fills the house and one taste of freshly baked bread is one of my favorite things to eat. I can remember my grandmother’s dinner rolls that would melt in your mouth. The grain offering consisted of the finest flour, I am sure the olive oil was pressed freshly. We are to give God our best. The grain offering was very specific. How are you doing with giving your best to God? Remember the sacrifice was payment for sin. Today we have Christ’s gift, He is our grain offering.
