    Dusty Road 1

The dusty road is well-traveled Jesus shoes shod with grace and humility. Beloved, our verse today to shape our travel is Jeremiah 29: 11

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

In 2021 we had just made a trip to California from Missouri, the road trip’s purpose to move our youngest son to the state of Missouri. Still retired at this time, with not a care in the world, we took our time to travel and enjoy the roads well traveled. However, traveling through New Mexico, it was hot and we had animals and so we did not go out of out way to see a family member. She was going to come see us in the fall and we rationalized that the added time would be time that we did not have. My sweet sister in law was killed in an automobile accident later that month. My heart still breaks with regret that we didn’t go see her on our trip.

Beloved, do you have regret in your life?

Our word today is regret. The definition is a feeling of sadness, repentance, or disappointment over something that has happened or been done.  Regret is in the Bible seven times with the most famous when the Lord regretted making mankind.

The Lord regretted that he had made human beings on the earth, and his heart was deeply troubled.

    Genesis 6:6.

Fast forward to my dusty road experience, I met a patient and as I interviewed her, I was able to pray with her and give her some wisdom about forgiveness. How to forgive herself and those that had hurt her brother. She was filled with anxiety over what had happened to her brother and now she was a patient. You see on the dusty road of life forgiveness is a key to success. I think as her case manager that day, she was helped as we prayed and forgave those who had hurt her brother. Remember we can give the Lord our anxiety.

Our song is Trust and Obey.  Trust and Obey for there is no other way to be happy in Jesus.

Lord, I choose to forgive myself for not going to see Kathy in June of 2021 and it makes me feel sad that we were too busy and too bogged down with life to smell the wild flowers. Thank you for the promise that I will see her in heaven.

Beloved, Jesus does not want you to live with regret. So don’t. Forgive yourself and others. Life is too short on this dusty road.

Father God, you are the alpha the omega, the beginning and the end. I am in awe of the dusty road and how I can travel with you. Lord. help me to walk in forgiveness. Help me to share the stories of your love. In Jesus’s name. Amen
