    Fumble, Fear and Faith

    Fumble, Fear, and Faith

The Lord will keep you from all harm— he will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore. Psalm 121: 7-8. NIV

    Fear

Beloved, the last time you were filled or consumed with fear, what did you do? What are your fears? Fear gripped my soul one day while working as a nurse. I performed assessments and drew blood and administered intravenous (IV) medications. Additionally, I specialized in the treatment of HIV—Human immunodeficiency virus causing AIDS—Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome.

One day my world changed, cleaning up after administering IV medications while placing the needle in the sharp’s container, I felt a sharp twinge of pain caused by a needle.

In a state of shock, my heart racing, I realized the enormity of the situation. I had been struck by a deadly needle.

Fumbling to find my phone, I called my boss. Permission obtained for treatment, I received an injection to help my immunity and to prevent tetanus.

After treatment, one would think the ordeal was over. However, it didn’t end. So what happened next? I had to wait and see if my DNA was infected. Oh, how I claimed Psalm 121: 7-8 and 1 Peter 5:7.

    Waiting

I was propelled into God’s waiting room because my blood could not be drawn again for another six months to see if I had contracted HIV. I tried to remember that God cared for me.

Beloved, have you been in God’s waiting room? Perhaps you are waiting on results of a medical test, your marriage is in trouble, or you have a child you are struggling to help. Maybe you are unemployed, and you keep looking for the right job.

This incident changed my life. My trust in God shaken as I waited for the next blood draw. As a result, fear of the unknown became my constant companion. Has fear ever crippled you?

However, God says in Psalm 121: 7-8 He will protect you from all harm.

    Desire

Oh, how I wished to believe no harm would come to me. Maybe you want to know God loves you and will not harm you, also. He says in his word in Jeremiah 29:11 that he will not harm you but give you hope and a future.

As the months passed, I learned of a blood test for examining your DNA. The blood test, costly, was denied by worker’s compensation insurance. So I prayed for God to provide the money for this test. This test would tell me once and for all if my DNA was infected or not.

    Conclusion

Four months slipped by and my faith continued to fumble at times but I did not quit asking God for a miracle of healing, Praise God He answered my prayer, and the test became available at my other job at no cost.

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28. NIV

Because of Romans 8:28, as I waited for the results, I vowed to trust God regardless of the results. I burst out of God’s waiting room with a clean bill of health, my DNA not infected. Fumble, Fear and Faith

    Diana writes on Fear.

Fumbling in my faith, no more. Fear had no place in my life.

    Prayer

Father God, You hear our cries, and you promise to work all things for good to those called to your purpose. I pray for any person waiting and fearful, and I ask you to provide and protect him or her. Your word in 2 Timothy 1:7 says you did not give us a spirit of fear but of power, love, and a sound mind. Will you meet his or her needs physically, financially, and spiritually? In Jesus’ name, Amen.

What area of your life are you fumbling to trust God?
