    Uncertain Times

Truly we are in uncertain times. Do you ever think back to what it was like when we were just hearing about the threat of the virus? Before the pandemic started, we were working, attending church, and freely walking where we wanted to walk.

Beloved, I’ve been through uncertain times before, how about you?

Simon Peter asked him, “Lord, whereareyougoing?” Jesus replied, “Where I am goingyou cannot follow now, but you will follow later.” John 13:6 NIV.

Can you imagine? The disciples had been with Jesus for three years, they had witnessed miracle after miracle. Now Jesus is preparing them for a time of uncertainty.

Oh, I know about uncertainty. We have lost our parents, my husband has had five back surgeries, lost the ability to work. I returned to school after being disabled for two years. We lived on very little income at times.

    Writing on an obstacle.

    God’s grace

Beloved, every time I faced uncertainty, God showed up in a big way. When Doug was hurt, God provided for us financially. Simple ways such as toothpaste arriving in the mail. When I was in school, I was able to borrow the money for school as a no-interest loan from my church. My career as a nurse provided for us to live and now retire. Yes, I saw God’s hand and witnessed his provision.

My uncertain times were made certain.

Simon Peter goes on to deny Christ three times. But as uncertain as to his life, he believed in Jesus. Jesus restored Simon Peter’s life and we see him in Acts a powerful witness for Christ.

There is no secret to handling uncertain times, we need to trust God.

Father God, you are a loving God and you care about us. Just as you restored Simon, you restore us. We trust in you with our uncertainty. I pray for the person that needs a job, that needs healing, that is filled with fear, will you become real to them. Lord your word says that if we will humble ourselves, you will heal our land. I pray for that healing. I pray for provision. We are drawing near to you in these uncertain times. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Describe a time of uncertainty and how God provided for you.
