Unwrapping the Names of Jesus- Day 5

Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.” John 8:12

Beloved, Jesus’ name above all names, is the ‘Light of the World.”

Read with me this section of scripture in 1 John 1,

“This is the message which we have heard from Him and declares to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all.  If we have fellowship with Him and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth.  But if we walk in the Light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.” 1 John 1: 5-7.

Darkness often represents danger, something to fear, evil, and sin. Jesus as the “Light of the World’ dispels darkness; He protects us, and we do not have to worry; Jesus provides forgiveness of sin when we ask Him to be our Savior.

Beloved, we’ve got many night lights in our house, and the soft glow takes the edge off the darkness. These little lights give us enough illumination to dispel the darkness to navigate without the leading light. Of course, when we turn on the leading light in the middle of the night, our eyes have to adjust, but sometimes one needs more light to take one’s medicine, so you turn on a light.  Just as we turn on a light to dispel the darkness,  Jesus interrupts the darkness in our lives.

I am a  Sunday school teacher; we teach about the world’s creation. The first thing that God created was light. We see the light from the sun, the moon, and the stars and all these things God created. Jesus illuminates our lives with His brilliance, and He shines His Light into every nook and cranny of our lives.

Father God, fill up our hearts with illumination; let’s see where sin has crept into our hearts. Turn on the light to shine where we need to follow You. Help each one of us be a light and let our lights shine.  Jesus give us eIn Jesus’ name, Amen.

Where can you shine the light?
