    Do you have your life jacket?

    Introduction

    One year my Uncle Don convinced me to get into his boat and go out into the ocean. The first thing I asked is, “Do you have life jackets?” As we were out in the ocean far from shore, I was not afraid. God’s Word is a life jacket.

    Psalm 119:93

    Scripture

    Your word, Lord, is eternal;
        it stands firm in the heavens.
    90 Your faithfulness continues through all generations;
        you established the earth, and it endures.
    91 Your laws endure to this day,
        for all things serve you.
    92 If your law had not been my delight,
        I would have perished in my affliction.
    93 I will never forget your precepts,
        for by them you have preserved my life.
    94 Save me, for I am yours;
        I have sought out your precepts.
    95 The wicked are waiting to destroy me,
        but I will ponder your statutes.
    96 To all perfection I see a limit,
        but your commands are boundless.

    My Thoughts

    The Psalmist depends on God’s Word. Do you see the urgency in his words?

    I will never forget your precepts,
    for by them you have preserved my life. Psalm 119:93

    God brings us into a land flowing with milk and honey but we have to choose to read and know God’s Word. Just like I had to put on the life jacket when I was in my Uncle Don’s boat. A life jacket will not do you any good if you are not wearing it.

    How has God’s word preserved you? Daily I wake up not feeling well, mostly due to a headache. But God’s word says, “I can do all things through Jesus Christ who gives me strength.” This verse is in Philippians 4:13.  Armed with God’s word, I make the best of the day.

    Do you suffer from chronic illness or pain? God is with you and is enabling you to go through your day. Victory is yours.

    The Psalmist says the wicked are waiting to destroy, some days I think I can’t make it one more day but then I remember I am fearfully and wonderfully made even if I have headaches. I love to take my thoughts captive to God’s word.

    We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. 2 Corinthians 10:5.

    Beloved, we can get rid of the “stinking thinking” easily if we know God’s Word.

    Conclusion

    Beloved, it is your responsibility to put on the life jacket.

    Save me, for I am yours;
    I have sought out your precepts. Psalm 119: 94.

    God will save you.

    Father God, Your Word is dynamic and alive, Your Word is life changing and applicable. Will you give each of us a desire to be in Your Word today? Today is the day of salvation, a day to reflect on how God’s Word empowers us. Thank You for being with each one of us. In Jesus’ name. Amen

    Beloved, if you do not have a bible, please let me know and I will buy you one. Will you join me in reading God’s word? Will you apply what you are reading? Will you pray with me for God’s word to fill us up to overflowing?
