3 Ways God’s Word Quickens Us

Introduction

God’s Word quickens us! Three ways God’s Word Quickens us, it revitalizes, energizes, and restores us.

Do you go to Sunday School? Do you go to Bible Study?

I’ve been in church my whole life. I used to play church as a child.

We would pretend to be a Sunday School teacher and a student. We would read the Bible to each other.

Psalm 119:33

Scripture

25 My soul cleaveth unto the dust: quicken thou me according to thy word.

26 I have declared my ways, and thou heardest me: teach me thy statutes.

27 Make me to understand the way of thy precepts: so shall I talk of thy wondrous works.

28 My soul melteth for heaviness: strengthen thou me according unto thy word.

29 Remove from me the way of lying: and grant me thy law graciously.

30 I have chosen the way of truth: thy judgments have I laid before me.

31 I have stuck unto thy testimonies: O Lord, put me not to shame.

32 I will run the way of thy commandments, when thou shalt enlarge my heart.

33 Teach me, O Lord, the way of thy statutes; and I shall keep it unto the end.

First,

Beloved, God’s word revitalizes us. In verse 25, the Psalmist asks God to quicken him. When we read God’s word it is active, a two-edged sword. We read this in Hebrews.

For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedgedsword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Hebrews 4:12.

Reading and applying God’s word revitalizes our walk with God.

Additionally,

God’s word energizes us. As we understand God’s word, it energizes us to make right decisions. This whole section of scriptures begs for the reader to apply God’s word to one’s life. When we do, we talk of how wonderful God is to each one of us. When we apply God’s word, we sin less and we are not filled with shame.

Lastly,

God’s word restores us. Teach us O Lord your way. When I am tempted to sin, I can claim God’s word. As the Psalmist declares, I will keep God’s word until the end of my life.

Father God, revitalize, energize and restore us with Your Word. Help me to focus on your word and apply it to my life. In Jesus name, Amen
