3 Ways to Hit the Pause Button

Five-Minute Friday a time to write for five minutes on a word and then link with other writers.

The word is Pause.

There was a time when I walked on a treadmill twenty minutes or a mile whichever came first. After work, I would rush into the health club and jump on the treadmill, I would get my exercise in on the way home, after all, the kid’s dinner and homework were waiting. Nights before this particular evening, my young son was at the health club and he jumped off the treadmill without shutting the machine off and without any incident. I rushed in and began my routine, noticing that my shoe was untied, normally, one would stop or pause the treadmill to tie one’s shoe, however, under the conviction of twenty minutes I decided to step off the back of the treadmill without turning the machine off.

There are three ways to hit the pause button when life gets too much.

  1. Pray
  2. Pray
  3. Pray

Rejoice at all times. Pray without ceasing.Give thanks in every circumstance, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.…1 Thessalonians 5: 16-18

Fortunately, other than embarrassment, I lived through the treadmill incident. I was not lucky like my son and suffered from my choice to hop off a treadmill without shutting it off. Beloved, when life gets too much, turn off the treadmill, get alone with God and pray.

Father God, help me to hit the pause button and recharge with you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

What is God asking you to pause?

I just discovered your blog from the Five Minute Friday link up. I agree that prayer is such an important way to pause. I believe that God is asking me to pause my wants that are really only distractions. Thank you for your post. I look forward to reading more form you 🙂

God is asking me to pause and stop trying to fit every task into one day. Writing is one of my passions and I feel stressed when I don’t complete my writing agenda for the day. I will pause and focus on Him. His presence gives me comfort.
