Adventure Creates Expectancy

Day 3

Beloved, the dusty road that I live on and travel to and from every day is a famous road. Perhaps, the road you live on is a famous street. My dusty road, Laura Ingall Wilder lived on and traveled on the dusty road. She became an author as adult writing her childhood memories that became the beloved television series Little House on the Prairie.

Beloved, our word today is counsel. The definition of counsel is advice, especially that given formally. The word counsel is in the Bible 36 times.

Thoughts

Beloved, sometimes to counsel someone is awkward. Other times, it can be joyful. Recently, I received my evaluation. I know, not really counselling. However, a form that gives you a roadmap persee of what you are doing well and what you need to keep on doing and how you can improve.  Even though I retired once in 2017, when I returned to work I really decided to give it my all as a case manager job so I give the very best of my performance.

Once shared by someone wise, if one does have counsel for someone, one might introduce the conversation, “I’ve something difficult to share.”

P“To God belong wisdom and power; counsel and understanding are his. Job 12:13

In my dusty road experience at the hospital, I am often giving counsel on Medicare, Nursing Homes, and sometimes to the physician about what the best plan for the patient.

In this process, sometimes I form a bond with the family members. One such person, a husband, oh may I just say how he loves his wife. God has brought us together and I remember what Henry Blackaby says that God is at work all around us and He invites us to join in, so I offer to pray for him and his wife. These encounters are precious. I watched a Hallmark movie that called these encounters–God winks.

Personally

It has been a long time since I have had to give counseling to an employee. So the counsel I give nowadays is mentoring. Mentoring other Christians mainly young women. Daily looking for opportunities: Who do you mentor?

I am on a personal quest of writing scripture and as I was writing James 1 there is much about wisdom and God says we can ask him for wisdom. And in Psalm 32:8 we read that God directs, “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.”

Expectancy

Beloved, how is God working in your life, what dusty road does he have you walking? Are you willing to stop in the middle of a cafeteria and pray? Maybe your cafeteria is a Walmart.

Will you be like the Psalmist?

I will praise the Lord, who counsels me; even at night my heart instructs me. Psalm 16:7

Father God, this dusty road I am following is full of love and joy, thank you. Please be with my beloved reader, meet her where she is at. I treasure that she is reading these words. In Jesus’s name. Amen.
