31 Day Writings

Adventure includes smelling the roses, and letting peace rule your heart.

Beloved, on my dusty road, there are wild flowers galore. In a previous post, I shared how the Queen Ann Lace is one of my favorite, but then we have daisy’s, a yellow flower called a moon beam, and little purple flowers. Also, I love the Black-eyed Susan, it is a yellow flower, with a button nose of brown.

When I gaze at the flowers, remember these are wild flowers, I have done nothing to earn them, God planted each one of the flowers  for my enjoyment; I am in awe of God’s peace. Our word today is peace and peace’s definition is freedom from disturbance; tranquility. Peace is in the Bible 249 times.

Our first verse on peace,

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. John 14:27.

Another verse is in John 16: 33,

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33.

Look, sweet friend, at this promise,

The Lord gives strength to his people; the Lord blesses his people with peace. Psalm 29:11

When do you struggle the most with peace? I struggle the most when my sons are struggling. Daily, I may be in pain, but when my sons are hurting, peace often seems far from my grasp. Yet, I’ve been learning to trust God. Yes, trust God. He is in control, more than what is happening in the world, God will never leave us or forsake us. He walks this dusty road with me, filling me with peace, a peace that passes all understanding.

Read this verse on peace, God is with us when we sleep.

In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety. Psalm 4:8.

So sweet friend, we have so many verses to learn from on peace.

I will listen to what God the Lord says; he promises peace to his people, his faithful servants— but let them not turn to folly. Psalm 85:8.

Love and faithfulness meet together; righteousness and peace kiss each other. Psalm 85:10

Great peace have those who love your law, and nothing can make them stumble. Psalm 119: 165

You know the message God sent to the people of Israel, announcing the good news of peace through Jesus Christ, who is Lord of all. Acts 10-36

Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. Ephesians 4:3

Lastly, consider this verse,

Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Colossians 3:15.

How do we let the peace of Christ rule in our hearts? What are you struggling with? Perhaps, like me one of your adult children is struggling? Maybe you are estranged from a grown child? Maybe you have been betrayed by a friend or a loved one?

On the dusty road of life, one must put one foot in front of the other and when all is said and done, we have to trust God to take care of our problems.

  1. Have you invited God into your pain?
  2. Have you prayed?
  3. Have you trusted God with your concern?

We can let the peace of Christ rule in our hearts only when we know Jesus as our Savior, and we pray and read the Bible on a daily basis.

Prayer

Father God, I praise you for who you are. In the book of Isaiah, you are the first and last. You created the heavens and the earth. You alone are worthy of our praise. Lord I ask for your peace, the kind of peace that rules our hearts. Lord so many of my friends are hurting. I ask that you give them peace. In Jesus’s name Amen.

What has been robbing you of peace?
