31 Day Writings

Adventures on the dusty road include wisdom and awe

Beloved, this is the day that the Lord has made I will rejoice and be glad. That verse is found in Psalm 118. Recently a friend gave me this verse to pray for her. In the ICU, I often pray for wisdom for the doctors and the families. You see on the dusty road I walk and serve as a case manager, the patients are the sickest of the sick. The doctors need wisdom to balance the amount of information presented.

Verse

Our verse says,

“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to you.” James 1:5.

Wisdom

Our word is wisdom. The definition of wisdom is the quality of having experience, knowledge, and good judgment; the quality of being wise. The word wisdom is in the Bible 214 times. Of course, the most famous verse is the one I already listed. Solomon asked for wisdom above everything else.

Today, in my dusty road adventure at the hospital, a family faces the dilemma of letting go or keeping a family member on a ventilator a bit longer, it is a hard decision. The family needs time and much prayer and wisdom to make the right decision.

Thoughts

In our Bible reading from Genesis 6-7, Noah builds an ark, it has never rained and yet he is listening to what God has to say. The world had become so corrupt that God was sad he had made the world, yet he found favor with Noah and his family. Noah had much wisdom, his wife displayed much wisdom. Noah built an ark. It had never rained there but Noah listened to God.He believed God when God said, “I will wipe mankind whom I created off the face of the earth, together with the animals, creatures that crawl and the birds of the sky–for I regret that I made them.”

The ark was built, the ark became a tool of salvation.

How might you express your trust in God today and learn to walk with God everyday?

What flood are you facing? Are you lacking wisdom?

Tomorrow the reading is Genesis 8-9 and Psalm 12

Prayer

Father God, thank you for today, help me to be a good steward of my rime and thank you for your word. In Jesus’s name Amen.
