Adventures on the dusty road includes instruction.

Beloved, we are facing a big snow storm. I am staying at a friend’s house. I love that my friend opens her home to me. Do you have a special friend in your life?

Verse

We have looked at this verse before in 2 Timothy 3: 16-17,

All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching rebuking, correcting, and training, in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3: 16-17.

Today, I looked at

This book of instruction must not depart from your mouth; you are to meditate on[a] it day and night so that you may carefully observe everything written in it. For then you will prosper and succeed in whatever you do. Joshua 1:8

Word

Our word is instruction–detailed information telling how something should be done, operated, or assembled. Instruction is in the Bible 153 times.

Reading

That leads us to Genesis 12-13:

God told Abram: Go from your land, I will make you into a great nation, I will make your name great and you will be a blessing. What a promise from God. Abram allows Lot to choose in Chapter 13 which portion of land he wants. Lots takes the land that appeared the most appealing. Abram built an altar to the Lord.

Tomorrow the reading is Genesis 14-16.

Thoughts

God promises Abram to make his name great. Abram allows his nephew to make the first choice of land. How might the promise lay a foundation for biblical response and how does it shape your response towards someone you may be in conflict with?

Prayer

Father God, help me to be the kind of person that promotes well-being. Help me to be willing to solve conflict quickly. In Jesus’s name. Amen
