Adventures on the dusty road involve change not dismay

Beloved, today on the dusty road it was a mixture of angst and blessings. The part I love the most is meeting with the patients and or their family. The complex portion is listening to the story, and devising a discharge plan when there are discharge barriers. Sometimes people live in such disarray that it boggles one’s mind. How did the person get to this point? How much change can you offer? Are he or she even willing to make the change? For instance, if you are struggling with a illegal drug problem, I can give them the resources, but they have to call the programs to enroll.

Verse

And the Lord, He is the One who goes before You. He will be with you, He will not leave you nor forsake you: do not fear nor be dismayed.”

Deuteronomy 31:8

Word:

Our word is dismay==

consternation and distress, typically that caused by something unexpected.
to his dismay, she left him”

The word dismay has 14 verses that can be found. For example, in addition to the one in our scription meme, read this one.

Strength resides in his neck, and dismay dances before him. The folds of his flesh are joined together, solid as metal and immovable. His heart is as hard as a rock, as hard as a lower millstone! Job 41: 21-22.

Today

On the dusty road at work, it was one of those I needed roller shakes. This verse was good, it is the verse of the day, and several times I was tempted to grumble.

Do everything without grumbling and arguing, so that you may be blameless and pure, children of God who are faultless in a crooked and perverted generation, among whom you shine like stars in the world, by holding firm to the word of life. Then I can boast in the day of Christ that I didn’t run or labor for nothing. Philippines 2: 14-16.

The blessing was in the patients and nursing students I met. Also, I was able to encourage a few people I work with. Henry Blackaby says, “God is at work all around you and he invites you to join in. I truly believe that is true. I even read my blog to a patient’s friend.aa

Thoughts

We are a day behind in the Bible. But we will catch up. Today we looked at Genesis 34-37. Hard topics. In Genesis 34, Dianh is raped by Shechem. The brothers avenge the sister. :Should he treat our sister like a prostitute:?

Genesis 35 Jacob receives the name Israel. Jacob blesses God and builds an alter.

Genesis 36 is a record of Esau’s family. Esau is the father of the Edomites.

Genesis 37, Jacob lived it a land where his father has stayed the land of Canaan, Genesis 37 presents his family record of Jacob. We are introduced to Joseph. Joseph  He is sold into slavery and his father is shown the coat of many colors.

The dusty road that was covered shared the emotional turmoil when sexual sin is not dealt with in as we read in Genesis 34. So many missed chances to make it right in Joseph’s life. We have just begun his story for tomorrow and read Genesis 38-40. The Joseph story is one of my favorites. Redemption, Reunion, and Forgiveness is the story we are about to embark on the dusty road. He goes to check on his brother and is sold and begins the ultimate dusty road experience, the only one he can turn to is God.

Grief for his father, and grief for Joseph. Are you mourning today? What might you be struggling with? I am praying for you.

Prayer

Father God

Please allow me to have a great attitude regarding the changes at work. Lord, the dusty road includes so many more questions and they seem redundant. Lord. help us make sense out of this change. Help those reading my blog to face change in their lives with a promise of hope and not dismay in Jesus’s name. In Jesus’s name. Amen
