31 Day Writings Uncategorized

Adventures on the dusty road involve God’s strength and grace.

Beloved, Happy New Year, this is the day that the Lord has made and I will rejoice. Our verse today is one that I often cling to,

The apostle Paul is speaking, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness. Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” 2 Corinthians 12:9.

Thoughts

Paul referred to his infirmity as a thorn in his side, and he prayed for God to remove the thorn three times, and God did not remove the thorn. The thorn some say was his eyesight. Regardless, he lived with pain. He suffered greatly for Christ, he was shipwrecked, he was beaten, and he was in prison.

Sweet friends our word today is strength. The definition is the capacity of an object or substance to withstand great force or pressure. To be strong in the sight of God is my goal this year. I am determined to read God’s word and pray like I have never prayed before.

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has passed away, and see, the new has come! 2 Corinthians 5: 17

Beloved, the old has passed away and we have a clean slate, a new year, a new you–one that is loved by God whether you do anything at all. According to Biblegateway.com, strength is in the Bible 263 times. In Psalm 18:1 we read King David say, “I love you, Lord, my strength.”

Then in Psalm 18: 32,

God—he clothes me with strength and makes my way perfect.

And when David is fleeing from Saul,

To you, my strength, I sing praises, because God is my stronghold— my faithful God. Psalm 59: 17.

Today

Today on the dusty road many are making resolutions. Yes, even for me, the first day of many resolutions, or just choosing to live differently.

Some may be wanting to quit smoking, or lose weight, or exercise more and for me I just want to be at peace, grow closer to the Lord, really understand His word, pray intentionally and faithfully for those in my sphere who need or who have asked or those God brings to me on the dusty road.

I started reading and today was Genesis 1 and 2. Dr. Joel did an overview, he is teaching the Story of Scripture in a Year.

Tomorrow is John 1:1-3  and Psalm 8 and Psalm 104.

Take Away

The creation of the world occurs in Genesis 1 and we see repeated that it is good. Human beings is the pinnacle of creation. The writer of the Bible I am reading said, “God built both beauty and order into creation, and the process climaxed with the creation of human beings. God decided to rest on the seventh day and declared it holy. He built order and rhythm into the weekly human routine.”

So, my beloved friend, how is God the hero of Genesis 2? Also do you see the beauty and nature that was built into marriage? God our good good Father, provided everything including rest.

What verses in Genesis 1 declare that it was good?

Will you join me in this journey

  • to pray faithfully
  • to read God’s word daily
  • to stay strong this year
  • to claim His grace is sufficient to meet our needs.

Prayer

Father God, thank you for your Word, thank you that I can hide your word in my heart so that I will not sin. Thank you for the promise and the blessing of the New Year. Thank you for those who faithfully read my blog, may they be blessed today. In Jesus’s name. Amen.

I love this, Diana! I too, plan to be in God’s Word more and to be more faithful in prayer. I just want to please Him and be in His will, whatever that looks like. Thank you for being such a faithful friend! 🙏🏼❤️
