31 Day Writings

Adventures on the dusty road involve his steadfast love daily

Beloved, it is cold here in the Ozarks, this dusty road still has snow and some ice. Tomorrow morning we will possibly be below zero. Monday we may have the rain that turns to ice. There was much to do at work today. Staffing changes have occurred making daily scheduling a challenge. The ICU is full. As I shared I love meeting with the patient’s families.

Verse

Create in me a pure heart, O God and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me from you presence or take your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit to sustain me. Psalm 51: 10-12

Word

Beloved our word is steadfast, to be steadfast means resolutely or dutifully firm and unwavering.  And the word steadfast is in the Bible three times. So in addition to the one in Psalm 51 see the verses in Colossians and 1 Corinthians.

We read in Colossians 1:23, ” if indeed you remain grounded and steadfast in the faith and are not shifted away from the hope of the gospel that you heard. This gospel has been proclaimed in all creation under heaven, and I, Paul, have become a servant of it.”

Additionally in 1 Corinthians 15:58,  “Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, be steadfast, immovable, always excelling in the Lord’s work, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.”

Thoughts

Our chapters are Genesis 38-40 and we read the story of Tamar in Genesis 38, Tamar takes care of herself and Judah has to recognize he has to fulfill his obligations according to the culture. Genesis 39 Joseph is in Egypt, he is taken to Potiphar house and the Lord blesses Joseph. However, the wife of Potiphar causes him big time problems and he ends up in prison over her accusations. Genesis 40 in prison Joseph interprets some dreams but the person forgets the promise and Joseph stays in prison for a while. Do you have some prayers that have not been answered, keep praying.

Prayer

Father God

Your steadfast love for those of us on the dusty road is amazing. Thank you for those who are reaching out and asking me to pray. In Jesus’s name. Amen.
