Adventures on the dusty road, one can anticipate pot holes on the journey.

Beloved, the dusty road is often filled with twists and turns, sometimes a sharp curve that one does not anticipate or a pothole in the road. Our word today is anticipated and the definition is regarded as probable; expect or predict. The word anticipated is not in the Bible. However, we know that many events in the Bible were anticipated.

Our verse today is, “Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves.” Romans 12: 10

Thoughts:

Daily, we anticipate our days, our conversations, and what we will wear, or will eat.

Time after time, we anticipate how someone else will respond to us. What will they do? What will they say? How will they react?

In our verse, be devoted to one another in love–this is possible because of God. Honor one another above yourselves–this can only be done with God.

Who was anticipated in the Bible?

  • Abraham anticipated a child with Sarah
  • Joseph anticipated a way out of prison
  • Moses Pranticipated the bush to burn up
  • Moses anticipated Pharaoh to say no
  • David anticipated the death of Goliath
  • Daniel anticipated deliverance from the lions
  • Mary anticipated the birth of Jesus
  • Jesus anticipated the cross
  • Paul anticipated his dusty road adventures

Our road saying is, “Stop worrying about the potholes in the road, and enjoy the journey.”

Sometimes that is easier said than done. Oftentimes we anticipate the worst, sometimes things happen that we don’t anticipate.

Beloved, as we trust God, our worries can actually turn to answered prayers. Yesterday in the hospital, life and death were present. My role as a case manager is to look at discharge possibilities. However, I am often able to encourage and support the families.

In reading the Bible, this week, my heart was quickened with anticipation that God is going to do amazing things for those of us called according to His purpose. Nothing can separate us from the love of God. What are you reading in the Bible?

How are you enjoying the journey you are on? Let us be devoted to one another in love, how can I pray for you?

Prayer

Father God, thank you for the dusty road that we travel. Lord, thank you for Your Word. Thank you that I may not anticipate everything that happens to me but that you are always with me. You are always a good God. I love you, Lord. In Jesus’s name, Amen
