Good morning, beloved friends, the weather is warm, humidity makes for a sticky day without air conditioning. The other night, when I was calling our cat to come in for the night, and the fireflies were flitting around, I was thinking that only God can create a bug with a built-in light. How are some of the ways you enjoy God’s creation? Of course, there are many; sitting on your porch at night admiring the stars, getting up early to stroll or walk the neighborhood. What path are you walking with Jesus? Do you have your own dusty road experiences?

Teaching
In my last post, I discussed Illumination–the work of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit inspired the authors of the Bible and illuminates the Word so that we understand what we are reading.
As I continue reading Dr. David Jeremiah’s book, The Holy Spirit You May Not Know, I am currently reading Chapter 5–Walking in the Spirit. I am encouraged by the chapter and this verse.
So, I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. Galatians 5:16
The word Walk is in the Bible 211 times. In the Proverbs 3: 5-6, God directs our paths that we walk.
We “walk” by faith not by sight, as illustrated in this verse, “For we live by faith, not by sight,” 2 Corinthians 5:7. How do you walk by faith?
Dr. David Jeremiah shares that we should not try to follow Jesus in our own strength. He states there are demands on your life as a Christian. What are some of the situations that you feel demands?
Ephesian 2:10 expresses that we are God’s workmanship to do good works. We may never be persecuted for our faith but there are people being persecuted for their faith. Perhaps, you are in a marriage that is not fulfilling, or your job demands are great.
In the song, Trust and Obey, the verse of the song says; “When you walk with the Lord, in the light of his word. What glory He sheds on our way.” There is a promise, He sheds glory on our way. But we have to trust and obey. What situation are you trusting God with today?
The enemy of God Satan does not like us walking with the Spirit of God– the Holy Spirit and so in Dr. Jeremiah’s book he shares on the determination of our enemy. He explains that we have resolve to do something and then sometimes our resolve breaks down. He writes that the enemy is real and is after us. Peter said the same thing,
Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. 1 Peter 5:9
Beloved, that is why it is hard to get to church on Sunday morning.
Lastly, Dr. David Jeremiah in this chapter explores that we have the destructive influence of our own personal flesh. Beloved, we can be our own worst enemy when we give into our flesh. The part of us that says, “the devil made me do it!”
Many years ago, I had the opportunity to present the salvation message to my niece and nephew and when I was telling both of them about sin–what sin is, Joshua, said, “Aunt DD, I sin a lot.”
Dr. David Jeremiah stated we may struggle with the flesh if we were in the world a long time before we accept Christ as our savior. I was eleven when I accepted Christ. I knew I was a sinner. I had another time I was distant from God, and my flesh was in total charge.
I love the verse in 1 John 1:9,
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
God promises to be in our tomorrows.
Beloved, we do not have to live by the flesh. We can walk by the Spirit.
Dusty Road
This weekend at the hospital we had a tornado warning, I grabbed my wallet and went to the basement, but the nurses and the aides had to get the patients out of the rooms, into the halls. This is hardly an easy task and thankfully we were not hit by a tornado.
But I was thinking what if just in the tornado warning we had a sin warning that would go off, we could grab our Bible and go to our safe room and pray until the danger passed us by.
Conclusion
Walking with Spirit is a priority, trust and obey. Daily, I want to be Spirit-filled, Illuminated, and walking by the Spirit doesn’t have to be a tall order, just a normal daily occurrence.
Read, pray, meditate, memorize, is the apple a day that will keep Satan away. God says resist the devil and he will flee from you.
Father God, you are the great provider, you gave us Jesus. Greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world. Allow us to be a witness for you. Heal those that need healing, including my son. Give those that need renewed strength, strength. Give those that need hope, a renewed hope. Please answer our prayers. In Jesus’s name. Amen.
When will you start a walking program with Jesus?
