31 Day Writings

Adventures with the dusty road includes self care

Beloved, much is said at the beginning of the year about choosing a word to guide you. And then a verse to support the verse. I’ve chosen the word trust, and the verses in Proverbs 3: 5-6. However, a verse that I quote often is found in Psalm 139:14

” I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well.”

Word

Our word is fearfully. So the definition is in an anxious manner, or extremely, But similar words capture the meaning exceeding, exceptional, remarkably. The word fearfully is only in the Bible one time in Psalm 139:14.  Oftentimes, a person just needs to hear, that God loves them and thinks of them often. In this same Psalm, God’s thoughts are as numerous as the sand on the seashore every single day.

Bible

In the Bible reading of Genesis 11-12, in Genesis 11, God had to intervene by confusing the language of man. In Chapter 12, there is a shift and God calls and give a promise to Abraham. We see God keep his promises with Abraham and Sarah.

According to F. B. Meyer, on Genesis 12:

It is a comfort that the Holy Spirit permits us to trace the successive stages through which the father of those who believe made his way to the maturity of faith.  We all stumble as we step out on the difficult path.  But God is patient with his dull scholars and protects them.  See Psalm 105:14-15.

He allowed no one to oppress them; for their sake he rebuked kings:

“Do not touch my anointed ones; do my prophets no harm.”

It was certain that no weapon formed against him could prosper, nor God’s promise fail; yet Abram meanly sacrificed Sarai with his pitiful proposition, for his own safety.  This doubting outbreak would never have occurred unless the patriarch had gone down to Egypt, which in Scripture stands for creature-confidence.

See Isa 30:1-2  –  “Woe to the obstinate children,” declares the LORD, “to those who carry out plans that are not mine, forming an alliance, but not by my Spirit, heaping sin upon sin;  who go down to Egypt without consulting me; who look for help to Pharaoh’s protection, to Egypt’s shade for refuge

The God of glory, who had sent him forth, was responsible for his care in Canaan, even though famine prevailed.  He ought to have stayed quietly in the position to which God had called him, leaving the Almighty to provide.  Live with God in the heights; and do not go down into Egypt.”

Dusty Road

Today, I went for a manicure, and took a nap. Of course I spent time reading the Bible and praying. Driving back home we saw a deer. We are bracing for snow. I am making preparations to stay in Springfield Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.

Tomorrow, is a catch up day in the reading. I am also reading a daily Bible so I will most likely post from a Psalm tomorrow.

Prayer

Father God, You are amazing and the alpha and the omega, You gave us Jesus as our Savior. Thank you for your provision of salvation and grace and mercy. In Jesus name, amen.
