Changes, We Can Count on Change

Beloved, our word today is changes. Changes are in the Bible two times, change seventy-six times. And if we define change, it means to make (someone or something) different, alter, or modify. Sometimes changes are easy, and sometimes, the changes we make are extremely difficult. Sometimes a boundary has to be put in place; a move has to be made, a job is lost, illness or someone dies. But sweet friend, God never leaves us and will do a new thing in our hearts. God will make a way if we invite Him into our troubles.

One of my favorite songs is Change My Heart Oh God.

Change my heart. Oh God, make it ever true.Change my heart. Oh God, may I be like You.
Change my heart. Oh God, make it ever true.Change my heart. Oh God, may I be like You.You are the potter; I am the clay,Mold me and make me; this is what I pray.Change my heart. Oh God, make it ever accurate.Change my heart. Oh God, may I be like You.

King David’s Prayer

Let’s consider Psalm 103

Bless the Lord, O my soul,
And all that is within me bless His holy name.
Bless the Lord, O my soul,
And forget none of His benefits;
Who pardons all your iniquities,
Who heals all your diseases;
Who redeems your life from the pit,
Who crowns you with lovingkindness and compassion;
Who satisfies your [a]years with good things,
So that your youth is renewed like the eagle.

The Lord performs [b]righteous deeds
And judgments for all who are oppressed.
He made known His ways to Moses,
His acts to the sons of Israel.
The Lord is compassionate and gracious,
Slow to anger and abounding in lovingkindness.
He will not always strive with us,
Nor will He keep His anger forever.
10 He has not dealt with us according to our sins,
Nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.
11 For as high as the heavens are above the earth,
So great is His lovingkindness toward those who [c]fear Him.
12 As far as the east is from the west,
So far, He has removed our transgressions from us.
13 Just as a father has compassion on his children,
So the Lord has compassion on those who [d]fear Him.
14 For He knows [e]our frame;
He is mindful that we are but dust.

15 As for man, his days are like grass;
As a flower of the field, so he flourishes.
16 When the wind has passed over it, it is no more,
And its place acknowledges it no longer.
17 But the lovingkindness of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting on those who [f]fear Him,
And His [g]righteousness to children’s children,
18 To those who keep His covenant
And remember His precepts to do them.

19 The Lord has established His throne in the heavens,
And His [h]sovereignty rules over [i]all.
20 Bless the Lord, you, His angels,
Mighty in strength, who perform His word,
Obeying the voice of His word!
21 Bless the Lord, all of you, His hosts,
You who serve Him, doing His will.
22 Bless the Lord, all you works of His,
In all places of His dominion;
Bless the Lord, O my soul!

Beloved, verses 1-5 are my testimony; God pardoned all of my sins–I’ve made so many poor choices in my lifetime. He redeemed me from the pit and has given me so many blessings. Even though I still have struggles, He has healed me numerous times. He has crowned me with lovingkindness.
Daily I see His love and compassion. He renews my strength. He has forgiven me as far as the east is from the west. He knows my name. He calls me beloved. This is true for you, sweet friend.

Prayer

Father God, create a clean heart in me, search me, and know if I have any anxiety or worry. Thank you that I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Thank you that you are slow to anger and abound in lovingkindness. Thank you for forgiving me as far as the east is from the west. Thank you that I hear and obey your voice. In Jesus’s name, amen.

What might God need to forgive you and are you listening to the Lord?
