Whispers

God whispers three ways to hear God’s voice.

God whispers three ways to hear God’s voice.

My grandmother called me every Saturday morning at six. She lived in Oklahoma and that was eight a. m. for her. She was afraid, she would miss me and I would be too busy to talk with her. Oh, how I loved to hear her voice. In my mind, even though she went to be with Jesus in 1996, I can still hear her say, “Hi honey, how are you?”

In Psalm 29, we read about the voice of God. The word voice is in the Bible 469 times. Voice is defined as the sound produced by vertebrates by means of lungs, larynx, or syrinx. The first time we read about God’s voice is in Genesis 3:8. Read with me.

And they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God amongst the trees of the garden. Genesis 3:8. KJV.

You see Adam and Eve had eaten the forbidden fruit that we read about in Genesis 2:9.

I like to read with emphasis and think of Satan slithering into the scene, but the reality of the situation is we don’t really know how he looked, however, the bottom line is Adam and Eve listened to the voice of Satan over the voice of God.

Beloved, how do we hear the voice of God? We hear God’s voice in our conscience, and when we pray and read God’s Word. and His voice can be heard in creation.

Remember in my last blog about blessings, we all have a God vacuum inside us that only God can fill. The primary way we hear God is in our conscience. That small still voice tells us between right and wrong. Being tempted is not a sin, we read about temptation in 1 Corinthians 10:13.

Additionally in Psalm 29, we read to give unto the Lord, the glory due to him. So as we pray we worship God and praise him, when we read His word we can hear God’s voice. This Psalm declares God’s voice is heard in creation. We live with the effects of sin and creation cries from the fall of mankind. The Bible says that even the rocks will cry out to declare God.

Beloved, listen to the Lord. Listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit convicts, He never condemns.

I knew the voice of my grandmother. I know the still small voice of God, do you?
