Out of Prison, Now in Charge

Have you ever felt like you were in prison? Perhaps you are in a relationship that is less than desirable. Perhaps you do not have enough money to meet your obligations and there seems to be no way out. Perhaps, the current situation is causing anxiety that is troublesome.

Our Hero of Faith is Joseph and we left him meeting with the Pharaoh. Pharaoh has had some disturbing dreams and no one can interpret the dreams. Joseph challenges Pharaoh to put someone in charge as the dreams point to a famine in the land. His chance to get out of prison.

You are my refuge

Beloved, Joseph is the man at hand and he is up for a challenge, we see him become Pharaoh’s right hand man. Much like we see the Vice-President now in this crisis. Joseph devises a plan and during the seven years of plenty they prepared. How is God asking you to prepare?

What are you sacrificing now to prepare for the future?

Read with me the account of Joseph in Genesis 41,

And Pharaoh said unto his servants, Can we find such a one as this is, a man in whom the Spirit of God is?

39 And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, Forasmuch as God hath shewed thee all this, there is none so discreet and wise as thou art:

40 Thou shalt be over my house, and according unto thy word shall all my people be ruled: only in the throne will I be greater than thou.

41 And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, See, I have set thee over all the land of Egypt. Genesis 41: 38-41.

Famine

Joseph prepares all of Egypt for the famine. Are you prepared for a famine? What are you doing to stay close to God? Are you praying daily, are you reading His Word? Are you memorizing scripture?

Daily, I write my prayers in response to the scripture I have written. As you know I did a study on Psalm 119, and I am now studying it again by writing the scripture and interacting with the scripture with Sarah Koontz. Also, I am in Bible Study Fellowship and we are studying Acts, we just finished Acts 27 and Acts 28. Lastly, reading the Bible and praying is a priority that I sometimes fail.

But we have a loving God that does forget where we are, what we are doing, how we are surviving? We have a God who sees our plight. He does not leave us in prison. He redeems us even if we run ahead of Him.

Strengths

Joseph depends on God. Are you depending on God as Joseph?

Joseph persevered. Are you persevering?

Joseph believed. Are you believing?

Joseph trusted. Are you trusting?

Father God, let us understand your word, let us cling to your word, let us come back to the basics of reading, and memorizing your word. You are our refuge and strength. In Jesus’ name. Amen

How are you?
