Revival, do you need a sweet touch of the Lord?

Beloved, our word is revival; revival is not in the Bible, but the word revive is in the Bible 27 times. Defining revival is an instance of something becoming popular, active, or influential again. My father believed in the revival process. Way before the Jesus revolution of the 60s, 70s, and now 2023, my dad would preach what was known as brush-arbor revivals.

Have you been to a revival? Was it a good experience? So, what is the reason for revival?

If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14

Revival can be a rewarding experience; I have attended not only a revival that my dad preached but also Billy Graham”s Crusade and his daughter Ann Graham Lotz’s revivals. I have witnessed the power of the Holy Spirit moving powerfully.

What is the reason for revival? Revival is for an awakening of the land. In 2 Chronicles, the passage says if we will

• humble ourselves
• pray
• seek
• turn
• then God will hear, forgive and heal.

Revival must be preceded by prayer. A great blessing to pray:

Search me, God, and know my heart;
Put me to the test and know my anxious thoughts;
And see if there is anyhurtful way in me,
And lead me in the everlasting way. Psalm 139: 23-24.

Opening up to God and the Holy Spirit is beneficial and such a personal adventure. Once we humble ourselves and pray, our walk with the Lord becomes so essential. Beloved, your walk with the Lord is imperative.

So, daily reading your Bible is a good thing. That is how we seek God. Several options include a daily Bible, such as one from Becky Tirabassi at ChangeYourLife.com. Or follow a reading plan, one can read five chapters from Psalms and one chapter from Proverbs, and you will read through the Psalms and Proverbs in a month. Sweer Friend, revival starts within our hearts. That is how we turn to God. He is our best friend.

Father God,

You are an extraordinary God. Start a revival in me. Let me proclaim why I believe. Daily, let me seek you. Let the evidence be the fruit of the Spirit shining brightly in me. In Jesus’s name. Amen.
