Ruth, Week 2, Day 4

Young love, first love, do you remember that feeling where you wanted to just be with that special person? That first tender touch when you held hands for the first time. Today we witness young love, first love, in action.

Ruth, Week 2, Day 4

Reading and Assignment

Ruth 2: 14-17, Psalm 34:10, SOAP Ruth 2:17

Scripture

So she gleaned in the field until even, and beat out that she had gleaned: and it was about an ephah of barley” (Ruth 2:17 KJV).

Observation

Boaz clears the way for her to gain back her respect. Ruth works hard to provide for Naomi and herself.

Application

Do you recognize blessings from God? Have you ever had a time when you were down and when you had to depend on others kindness? Share about that time and how you now see God worked in your circumstance. When you recognize a need, how do you help?

Prayer

Father God, just as Ruth worked hard to provide for herself and for Naomi, let me remember where my blessings come from and that You are at work around us. Let me recognize blessings and look for ways to bless others. Father God, what work have You prepared for me? I ask for each person that is reading this You first meet their needs and that they do what is necessary to experience Your blessings. In Jesus name, Amen.

Conclusion

Boaz told his servants to leave wheat and barley in the fields for Ruth to glean, as we watch Boaz provide for Ruth we see his love for her. She must have been beautiful out in the field as she worked from morning until night. I remember when I was first dating my husband how I looked forward to every date. Even when we sold raffle tickets for his mom. What is your fondest memory of young love?

The amount of barley was quite a bit showing how much Boaz cared for her.

How do you show your love for others?

The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the Lord shall not want any good thing” (Psalm 34:10, KJV).

    Great post!
When I think of my husband and I in our dating days the one memory that comes to mind that means the most to me is on our second or third date we were at his house. He had just found out he had free cable there and was watching a basketball game after we had dinner. We were sitting on the floor and I was so tired I feel asleep next to him. This means so much to me because I have always been a very anxious person and rarely fall asleep in front of anyone. I still have issues spending the night anywhere but in my own home. That showed me that even in the early days of our relationship he made me feel comfortable and safe. Thank you for asking that question, it brought back a beautiful memory for me.
