Ruth, Week 3, Day 2

Introduction

My mother broke her toe on my wedding day. Yet she was there helping me get dressed. Doug and I decided a week before our wedding day to get married. I already had my dress so that was why we decided to go ahead with a wedding instead of going to the Justice of Peace. I made three bridesmaid dresses, and my mom and I did the flowers.

Ruth, Week 3, Day 2

Reading and Assignment

Ruth 3: 6-9 and Ezekial 16:8, SOAP Ruth 3: 8-9

Scripture

And it came to pass at midnight, that the man was afraid, and turned himself: and, behold, a woman lay at his feet.

And he said, Who art thou? And she answered, I am Ruth thine handmaid: spread therefore thy skirt over thine handmaid; for thou art a near kinsman” (Ruth 3: 8-9, KJV).

Observation

Ruth followed Naomi’s advice. Boaz does not reject Ruth. Ruth states the obvious, “thou are a near kinsman.”

Application

Are you willing to step out in faith? Faith and love are evident in this chapter, how do you show your spouse that you love him? How do you show God that you love Him?

Prayer

Father God, thank You for the Bible and the fact that the Bible is true. Thank You for showing us boldness, faith, love in action. Lastly, thank You for demonstrating that You had a plan for Ruth and that was one of redemption. Lord, help us to act in faith, by praying, reading and applying Your word in our lives. Help me to be more loving towards my husband. In Jesus name, Amen.

Conclusion

I liked what the blog said that we don’t need an application for every scripture. That Ruth has themes. In Ruth 3, we see love and faithfulness. We could look at this and see Ruth in a bad light or we can look at the scripture and see her as a woman who knew God and trusted God for the outcome of marriage. Boaz could have rejected her but instead, this older man saw what a gift from God Ruth is the woman of his dreams.

Even though my mom broke her toe, she was very present at my wedding. When I first told her we were going to get married in a week, she cried, but when she realized I was going to marry Doug, she became my biggest fan and doted on me on my wedding day.

What has God done in your life? How do you walk in faith as Ruth did?

Now when I passed by thee, and looked upon thee, behold, thy time was the time of love; and I spread my skirt over thee, and covered thy nakedness: yea, I sware unto thee, and entered into a covenant with thee, saith the Lord God, and thou becamest mine”  (Ezekial 16:8, KJV).

Great post! Made me long for that type of mother/daughter excitement about the upcoming wedding and wedding day. I was blessed on my wedding day to marry my best friend. Sometimes I just wish things with my family would have been different. I am blessed to know you had that with your mom! ❤
