Sing a song of Sixpence

#write 31 days, Song

When I saw the word “Song” I thought of Neil Diamonds song, “Song, Sung, Blue.” I’ve listened to the song many times, the words go

“Song sung blue
Everybody knows one
Song sung blue
Every garden grows one

Me and you are subject to the blues now and then
But when you take the blues and make a song
You sing them out again
Sing them out again

Song sung blue
Weeping like a willow
Song sung blue
Sleeping on my pillow
Funny thing, but you can sing it with a cry in your voice
And before you know, it get to feeling good
You simply got no choice
Me and you are subject to the blues now and then
But when you take the blues and make a song
You sing them out again
Song sung blue
Weeping like a willow
Song sung blue
Sleeping on my pillow
Funny thing, but you can sing it with a cry in your voice
And before you know, it started feeling good
You simply got no choice
Song sung blue
Song sung blue
Funny thing, but you can sing it with a cry in your voice.
Where would we be without the songs in our lives? I’m a child of the 1950’s so the music I am familiar with are the hits of the 1960’s. A fun memory is of my girlfriends earning enough money to go to see the Monkee’s in Wichita, Kansas.
The music that impacts my life now are songs about Jesus. Nothing better than praise music to add to your day.
What is your favorite praise music?
The Lord is my strength and song, and he is become my salvation: he is my God, and I will prepare him an habitation; my father’s God, and I will exalt him. Exodus 15:2.
What is your favorite verse in the Bible on singing or songs?
How about this nursery rhyme?
Sing a song of sixpence,
A pocket full of rye,
Four and twenty blackbirds
Baked in a pie.
When the pie was opened
The birds began to sing—
Wasn’t that a dainty dish
To set before the king?
The king was in the counting-house
Counting out his money,
The queen was in the parlor
Eating bread and honey,
The maid was in the garden
Hanging out the clothes.
Along came a blackbird
And snipped off her nose.
Let’s sing a song to the Lord.
