Sing Praises To The Lord For The Word of God.

Introduction

What is your favorite hymn or praise song? Sing with me, To God Be The Glory, Great Things He has done. So loved He the world that He gave us His son. The first song I learned was Jesus Loves Me and then Trust and Obey. What was the first song you learned?

Another one that I loved as a child was Praise Him All Ye Little Children. And I’ve Got a Mansion. The Psalmist must have loved music. Although they do not know who wrote Psalm 119, the words seem similar to those penned by King David.

Psalm 119: 174

Scripture

May my cry come before you, Lord;
    give me understanding according to your word.
170 May my supplication come before you;
    deliver me according to your promise.
171 May my lips overflow with praise,
    for you teach me your decrees.
172 May my tongue sing of your word,
    for all your commands are righteous.
173 May your hand be ready to help me,
    for I have chosen your precepts.
174 I long for your salvation, Lord,
    and your law gives me delight.
175 Let me live that I may praise you,
    and may your laws sustain me.
176 I have strayed like a lost sheep.
    Seek your servant,
    for I have not forgotten your commands.

My Thoughts

Often prayer can lead to singing praises. The prayer starts with the words “may” see the verses 169-173.

Prayer for an understanding of God’s Word. Will you make that your prayer?

Prayer for deliverance. What do you need deliverance? Perhaps, anger or lack of forgiveness.

Prayer for instruction. What do you need to learn from God’s Word? Obedience, Caring

Prayer for praise. How often do you praise the Lord daily? Do you only praise Him in the good times?

Prayer for application of the Word. God’s Word is righteous, do you respect God’s Word.

Prayer for the ending of a dry period. Will you draw near to God?

God’s Word sustains us.

Conclusion

Father God, sustain us with Your Word? May we sing praises to You in good times and in challenging times. I love you, Lord. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

What is God asking you to do in response to this post?
