Unpacking 31 Verses to Live By -Day 30

Beloved, first, I want to apologize. I tried to tie the last two verses together to start my new series on time. However, the Holy Spirit and a sweet reader let me know that I need to share the verses separately. Sometimes, we try a shortcut, which is not the right thing to do. My mother always said a job worth doing is worth doing well for the first time. Another one is practice makes perfect.

Sweet friend, John 3:16 is probably the first verse I learned as a child. I’ve been in church most of my life, and memorizing scripture was always emphasized. Interestingly, the scriptures that I learned as a child are still known today.

Do you know that children as young as two can learn a simplified version of a bible verse? Perhaps, one of my favorite memories was when we taught two-year-olds about the resurrection of Jesus and the Bible words; “He is Risen’, we were ready to introduce new Bible words, and one little boy blurted out, “He is Risen.” Recently my friend and I shared Geneses 1:9 with three to five-year-olds.

So, why are these verses so important. These verses are the gospel in a nutshell. If you only memorize one or two verses, this is the place to start.

Let’s unpack it, “For God so loved the world… God loved us in the beginning, remember we are created in His image as shared in Genesis 1:27. Once sin enters the world in Genesis 3, God shares His plan of Jesus in Genesis 3: 15.

And I will put enmity
between you and the woman,
and between your offspring[a] and hers;
he will crush[b] your head,
and you will strike his heel.” Genesis 3:15. NIV.

Let’s look at the verses again,

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. NIV

Sweet Friend, I included verse seventeen as it is often not shared. This verse is important. You see, Jesus came to SAVE the world. Whoever believes in him will not perish but will have eternal life. Only you can answer this question. Do you believe that Jesus is God’s Son?

Will you write these verses and memorize them?

Father God, thank you for Jesus, your one and only son. Thank you for eternal life and for the gift of salvation for those of us who believe in Jesus.

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. John 14:6. NIV.
