What is the best kept secret?

Five Minute Friday A time to write for five minutes on a word and then link with other writers.

Secret is the word this week.

But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. And yourFather, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.  Matthew 6: 3-4

Did you ever see that show The Millionaire? I know I am dating myself because it was an old show but the premise of the television show was The Millionaire gave money away and the person receiving the money always needed the money.  The verse above in Matthew basically tells us when we help someone we need to do it quietly.  In other words, we should not be bragging about helping someone.

Does your heart hurt like mine does when you see a homeless person? Of course, the news media has shared many times not to give the person money because of the danger that the person will just use it for drugs. I have helped my fair share of homeless. The best-kept secret is that when we bless others we are blessed.

Generosity breeds generosity. The best-kept secret is we can’t out give God. The bottom line is when we see a need, how do we react? My goal is to be aware and to serve others and if I can share God’s love by helping someone in secret, so be it. God is at work around us and He invites us to join him.

Father God, your word tells us about needy people and how to help and that we need to be generous. May I always be willing to do your will as every good and perfect gift comes from you. Help me to see the needs of others. Thank you for your rewards. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Who is God asking you to help in secret?

There are so many opportunities to share something with someone in need. I love your encouragement to share because “God is at work around us and He invites us to join him.’
It’s so easy to get hardened by the world and forget what God has called us to do in His name. Lovely post!

I pray that my heart, mind and ears and eyes are always open to be aware of the need and that I will respond with love and kindness. Great message Diana.

I love your heart for helping others. Are you a 2 on the Enneagram? 2s are helpers/caregivers.
