Why Did God Allow This?

31 days free writes, day 4, Why

When my children were small, they could ask more Why questions? The question Why makes me ponder. Sometimes I ponder God’s goodness and when I am struggling for an answer.

Like why do I suffer from migraines, why did my husband hurt his back that led him to be disabled, why did my mom die so young, why did my dad die five months after I arrived in Oklahoma to care for him, why, why, why. My story continues as I handle the Why of life.

Sometimes, I think when I ask why I show a lack of faith. The word why is mentioned 261 times in the Bible. Some of our Biblical heroes asked the question why. Why did the Israelites build a golden calf to worship?

Why did Saul hate David so much? Why did the thorn that Paul experienced was it not removed? Why did Peter deny Christ three times? Why did Eve not trust God and rebuke Satan? Why didn’t more people believe Noah? Why did the bush not burn up?

And Moses said, I will now turn aside, and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt. Exodus 3:3.

Just like my children, I can ask God why. Beloved, God is aware of our questions. I shared with a friend recently that every time I read Genesis I have more questions than answers. But, God is able to handle any doubt we might experience. Reading Hebrews 11 will increase your faith.

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1.

[Tweet “The truth is we don’t need to know the why. #faith, #write31days,”]

Beloved, the truth is we may never know Why but sometimes we can only see the end result of God’s faithfulness. When my husband became injured, I changed my course in school and I became a nurse, had he not been disabled, I would not have become a nurse. Why did my daddy die, his mansion was built. He needed to hear, well done, good and faithful servant.

Father God, You are big enough to handle our Why’s. May each woman reading this feel free to ask her Why questions. Bless the Lord, Oh My Soul, Bless Your Holy name. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Why, do you have a Why question? What are you pondering? What are your blessings from your Why?
