28 Days of Loving God – Day 8

Beloved, our word today is devastation. Devastation is in the Bible three times. The first time I saw destruction was when I was about eight years old, and floodwaters covered the Southend of our town. The weird part is that we were warned but couldn’t change the outcome. When have you been involved in a devastating time? Perhaps the death of a loved one, an illness, indeed Covid has changed our world.

When your world faces conflict, trouble, devastation, or destruction, what do you do? How do you start your day? I am up early each day—time with the Lord before I leave for work.

Will you join me in reading the Bible? I read from a 365 Daily Bible, a reading from the Old Testament, New Testament, Psalms, and Proverbs. I use the Change Your Life Bible, but there are many reading programs. The important thing is to read God’s Word.

If you are then faced with a difficult situation, you are reassured that the Lord is right there with you.

Often, I write my prayers, but audible prayers work. I use the word PART, Praise, Admit, Request, and Thanks. Last but not least, I try to write some scripture, usually from the Psalms.

God is good all the time, and all the time he is good.

Father God, thank you that nothing surprises you. Blessings are ours, In Jesus’s name. Amen.
