30 Days of Thankfulness-Day 6

“I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine requesting you all with joy,  for your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now” Philippians 1: 3-5

Do you struggle with prayer? The Apostle Paul had much to say about prayer? He prays for those in ministry with him and teaches us to pray without ceasing. Tracie Miles says the way to pray without ceasing is to pray and never say amen. We read about praying without ceasing in 1 Thessalonians 5: 16-18.

“Rejoice always,  pray without ceasing,  in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”

One of my pleasures is that I attend Bible Study Fellowship, we are studying the book of Matthew this year, and we just finished the Sermon on the Mount, Matthew 5-7.  In the notes, Lesson 7 on page 77 is The Doctrine of Prayer.

  1. Prayer is a fantastic honor offered to every believer.
  2. When you fail to value prayer, you ignore the lifeline from God.
  3. When you believe God listens, you can enjoy communion and fellowship.

According to these notes, “Prayer is not a duty, but a delight.”

Today I want to thank God for this beautiful gift of prayer. I love to write my prayers, and I always use a purple pen. I use the word PART as my pattern, Praise, Admit, Request, and Thanks.

Daily I thank God for the many blessings in my life.

Father God, thank you for the promises in the Bible and that we can approach you at any time. Thank you for listening to and answering our prayers. In Jesus’s name, amen.

Do you marvel at the wonder of prayer? Will you claim this promise in James 4: 7-8,

Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. “

Pick any of these verses to write out for today. Which verse did you choose?
