To Share or Not to Share

Introduction

Sharing is such a hard concept to teach. Today, I gave a birthday present to my niece and her brothers didn’t object. However, when her brother later joined her as she pressed down the stickers, she realized he had a sticker and that did not make her happy. Do you struggle with sharing?

Psalm 119:57

Scripture

The proud have had me greatly in derision: yet have I not declined from thy law.

52 I remembered thy judgments of old, O Lord; and have comforted myself.

53 Horror hath taken hold upon me because of the wicked that forsake thy law.

54 Thy statutes have been my songs in the house of my pilgrimage.

55 I have remembered thy name, O Lord, in the night, and have kept thy law.

56 This I had because I kept thy precepts.

57 Thou art my portion, O Lord: I have said that I would keep thy words.

58 I intreated thy favour with my whole heart: be merciful unto me according to thy word.

So,

Verse 57 says, “Thou art my portion, O Lord: I have said that I would keep thy words.” Is the Lord your portion? If He is your portion, then you are keeping His words, are you are sharing His word with others?

Then,

We can ask the Lord to be merciful to us according to His word. God is merciful as we read in the Psalms.

But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation. Psalm 13:5.

Lastly,

Although my niece was unhappy that her brother used one of her stickers and she may not embrace the concept of sharing completely, she quit her crying and later played with her brother.

Sharing may be hard but it is never hard to share God’s love and what He says in His word.

Father God, let us share with others the good news of the Bible, the good news of Christ. Let us proclaim that the Lord is our portion and our strength.

Who is God asking you to share the good news?
