God is our Refuge

Introduction

My life verse is Nahum 1:7.

The Lord is good,
a refuge in times of trouble.
He cares for those who trust in him. Nahum 1:7.

What is your life verse? Today we look at the next eight verses in Psalm 119: 113-120.

You are my refuge

Scripture

I hate vain thoughts: but thy law do I love.

114 Thou art my hiding place and my shield: I hope in thy word.

115 Depart from me, ye evildoers: for I will keep the commandments of my God.

116 Uphold me according unto thy word, that I may live: and let me not be ashamed of my hope.

117 Hold thou me up, and I shall be safe: and I will have respect unto thy statutes continually.

118 Thou hast trodden down all them that err from thy statutes: for their deceit is falsehood.

119 Thou puttest away all the wicked of the earth like dross: therefore I love thy testimonies.

120 My flesh trembleth for fear of thee; and I am afraid of thy judgments.

My thoughts

Is God your hiding place, is He your shield, is He your defender. God has many attributes, He is a covenant-keeping God. He keeps his promises. He is available.

The Psalmist asked God to uphold him according to God’s Word. Do you know God’s promises?

We are safe in the hands of God. He is trustworthy even when times are difficult.

Will you share your testimony of God’s goodness.

Father God, thank you that you are my refuge and my strength. May we honor You in all we do. Be with us, keep us safe. In Jesus name, Amen.
