What are you scared of?

I am scared, full of fear, those sentiments were predominant many times in my life. Have you ever been scared?

Those words echoed through my mind when I had my first migraine, when I had my children, when I returned to college, when I changed jobs, when my sons married, when I became a nurse, when I retired, when I lost my dad, and when I moved to Mansfield, Missouri.

We read in Isaiah about fear,

Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. Isaiah 41:10.

“Do not fear” is in the Bible thirty-seven times.

Scripture

Psalm 118

The Lord is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do unto me? Psalm 118:6

Thoughts

I love Psalm 118, read it with me, ponder it, meditate on it, so many great verses in this Psalm. The Lord is mentioned in every verse.

When we are scared, God is with us. When we are fearfully, God is with us. When we are anxious, God is with us.

Read with me verse 5,

I called upon the Lord in distress: the Lord answered me, and set me in a large place. Psalm 118: 5.

We can go to the Lord when we are distressed.

Another verse to ponder is 14,

The Lord is my strength and song, and is become my salvation. Psalm 118: 14.

Is the Lord your strength and song? Is He your salvation?

Conclusion

Beloved, our hearts can not be filled with fear and faith at the same time. Faith over fear. Look up and praise God when you are scared.

Father God, your word tells us, do not fear. You are the only legitimate fear object. We do not have to be scared or afraid. Thank you that we can take our thoughts captive to you and we can praise you in the hard times. I know you are with us, in Jesus name, I pray. Amen

Will you take your thoughts captive to the Lord?
