And He Was No More

Our hero of faith is Enoch,

Our word is Joy. Joy is in the Bible 187 times. Joy is defined as a feeling of great pleasure and happiness. Of course when I think of joy, I think of the song, I’ve got the joy, joy, joy down in my heart.

Adam and Eve had more children after Cain killed Abel. Seth is the son that carries on the lineage to Christ. From this line, many years later Enoch is born.

Scripture

And Enoch lived sixty and five years, and begat Methuselah:

And Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years, and begat sons and daughters:

And all the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty and five years:

And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him. Genesis 5: 21-24.

Thoughts

Beloved, we do not have much information about Enoch. Obviously, his strength was his relationship with the Lord. We do not really know the challenges he faced or his weakness, so why is he mentioned in Hebrews 11.  Read with me the verse again in Hebrews.

By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God. Hebrews 11: 5.

How does he point to Christ? God was pleased with Enoch and so did Jesus.

Wow, Enoch was so full of faith, he so pleased God, that God translated him to heaven. By the word of his testimony he pleased God.

Lessons Learned

Beloved, how are you doing in your walk with God? We need to please God just as Enoch did. How can we please God?

God desires a personal relationship with us and we all have a story of God working in our lives. Are you sharing your testimony?

Read this next verse in Hebrews 11: 6, Enoch obviously pleased God.

But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

So the lesson is to please God by walking with Him.

Most likely, none of us will be translated to heaven, however, when Christ returns those of us alive will be caught up in the sky, we will not see death. We see this in 1 Thessalonians 4: 15-18.

For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.

For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

Conclusion

Although we do not know much about Enoch, we do know he walked with God and was included in our Biblical Heroes mentioned in Hebrews 11.

His testimony is one of intrigue. Can you imagine how full of joy he must have been?

How do we walk with God? Praying and reading the Bible are just two ways to draw near to God.

Father God, I know that you desire all come to a saving knowledge of Jesus. I know that we do not know when you will return but help us to live as if you were coming back today. Thank you for your love and for taking Enoch to heaven. May we find our voice to share our testimony. May we walk in a worthy manner to please you.  In Jesus name, Amen.

What do you find encouraging in the life of Enoch?

Are you a joy to be around?

“And Enoch walked with God”. What a man of faith he had to be to walk so closely with the Father.

I wish we knew more about Enoch. But God must have only wanted us to know what a great man of faith he was and that he walked with Him! I’m sure we will meet Enoch when we arrive! 🙌🏼💕
