31 Day Writings

Adventure with God is ordained.

Beloved, the dusty road we travel is ordained by God. We are told in Psalm 139 that before we were born our days were ordained. Read with me:

Your eyes saw my unformed body;
all the days ordained for me were written in your book
before one of them came to be. Psalm 139: 16

Additionally, in Psalm 90, Moses says,

Teach us to number our days,
that we may gain a heart of wisdom. Psalm 90: 12.

And then in Matthew 28, we have the great commission. The great commission is our marching orders.

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:  19-20.

Our word is disciples, and is defined as a personal follower of Jesus during his life, especially one of the twelve Apostles. Disciples is in the Bible 269 times.

Of course, Jesus choosing his disciples is some of the most important scripture in the New Testament. We read in Matthew 4:18  Jesus calls two brothers.

As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen.

Thoughts

Beloved, friend, we are to number our days, we are to witness to others, so what are you doing to make each day count? My motto is to put one foot in front of the other. Today on my dusty road, I started my day with the Lord. I am on a quest to read my Bible and to pray. I am working on memorization and writing God’s words is so important. Recently, reading Wendy Blights’ book, Rest For Your Soul, I added to my written prayer, an entry for worries, praise, prayer, and promises. I already do PART–Praise, Admit, Request, Thanksgiving.  LNOP Listening, New Testament, Old Testament, and Proverbs.

Adding the worries section has helped to focus on God’s goodness, because I can quickly claim a promise and take my fears to the Lord.

Today on the dusty road to work the moon was out and the beauty of the moon filled the sky, in the stillness of the morning, my little dog, Tory, watched for friends, but it was too early for the rabbits. The hummingbirds are all but gone. Yet, something was singing this morning.

As I arrived at work and read my Bible and prayed, I prepared. I watched an educational film on handwashing, and one of the doctors, prayed a 20 seconds of prayer that his hands will be an instrument of peace. After that, I reached up in my cabinet that I store my clipboard in, I found that someone borrowed my clipboard (stole). Then I discovered I had an additional assignment. However, I counted it all joy, when I encountered the trial this morning.

The blessings in my travel today was I met a family whose mama has lived 96 years and she fell but I was able to help with the discharge plan. Meeting people in their time of need and giving a hug or a word of encouragement is something I cherish. Additionally, I made a prayer journal for one of the sisters in the hospital–something so simple made her so happy.

Sweet Friend, what about this quote about a road, “life is like a road, it has bumps, cracks, turns, and obstacles, but in the end it gets you somewhere.” What bumps have you encountered? Are you facing cracks that cause you sorrow? Is there an obstacle you are trying to circumvent? Jesus on the dusty road called his disciples. He healed many yet he faced much opposition and his road led to the old rugged cross.

We are each given the great commission to do as Jesus did and make disciples. When was the last time you told someone about Jesus and his dusty shoes? What road does he have you walking on?

Prayer

Father God, today, I pray for the woman who is hurting, may her pain be relieved. I pray for the woman who is lonely, may she find comfort in you. I pray for the woman who is suffering from financial distress, may she find a solution. I pray for the woman who does not feel loved may she know today that she is loved with an everlasting love. I pray for the woman who is lost on a lonely road, may she find her way home to you. In Jesus’s name. Amen.
