Adventures on the Dusty Road- Good God

Good morning, beloved friends, do you believe in a good God? A God that is good all the time, and all the time God is good. One of the attributes of God, is God is a good, good God. There is a song we used to sing, “God is so good, God is so good, God is so good, He’s so good to me.”  Even when good and bad things happen, we serve a God that is a good God. Sometimes when times are hard and circumstances are difficult, as a believer God is good. Yes, even when the circumstances are difficult, God is good.

Teaching

In Dr. David Jeremiah’s book, The God You May Not Know, Chapter 7 Knowing A Good God, he writes, “Goodness refers to God’s excellence and His attitude of benevolent grace towards all.”

Beloved, I have experienced God’s goodness in the midst of pain and grief. I lost my mom to cancer when I was twenty-five, I have experienced illness throughout my life. I was with my girlfriend when her daughter died and with the 25th anniversary of 911, she relives her death every year. Yes, when you are a nurse, you have seen and witnessed suffering. Yet, God is good. He is with us in our trials.

We explore God’s goodness with the fact that God created the world and in Genesis 1, we read that God stated it was good. Then we read in Jeremiah 10: 12, “He has made the earth by His power, He has established the world by His wisdom, and He stretched out the heavens at His discretion.”

One of my favorite verses in the Psalm is Psalm 34:8, “Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good.”

And we cannot forget that every good gift is from God– “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above and comes down from the Father of light.” James 1: 17

So, how have you seen God’s goodness? He provides for us. He gave us His son so that those of us who believe have eternal life. He is patient with us. He does not want anyone to perish. Psalm 100: 4-5, “Be thankful to Him and bless His name. For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting.”

Beloved, God is good, He protects us. Dr. David Jeremiah writes about our guardian angels. I know my son had a over worked guardian angel. He then shares, God is good, He guides our pathways. Psalm 16: 11

You make known to me the path of life;
you will fill me with joy in your presence,
with eternal pleasures at your right hand.

In the scripture meme, God is good because he gives us peace. This is the verse of the week I am working on learning. In this verse, we learn we have perfect peace when our minds are steadfast because we can trust God–He is Good.

God is Great. God is Good.

Dusty Road

Recently I had to change how I have been doing things at my job; I am trusting God to perform the tasks at had in a more efficient way. I have been writing out God’s word and trusting God who He wants me to share God’s word and with this trusting God with my day at work I have had the perfect peace that Isaiah 26: 3 talks about. I meet so many people who are sick and God’s word gives the person hope. I have finished my study in Colossians.  I start Bible Study Fellowship on Monday. I am also spending some time Proverbs 31 study of 1 and 2 Chronicles. What are you studying? Will you memorize Isaiah 26:3 with me?

Conclusion

God is Good. We serve a Good God. He protects us, I am so thankful for this. I am thankful that he provides for us. “The Lord is good to all, and His tender mercies are over all His works.” Psalms 145:9   “No one is good but One, that is, God.” Mark 10:18.

Father God, you are a good God, thank you for all that you do for us. Thank you for the perfect peace you give us when our minds are steadfast on you, thank you that we can trust you. Thank you for the healing you give us and the ability to call on your name. Thank you for your word and the love of Jesus and the indwelling Holy Spirit. In Jesus’s name, amen.

What will you thank God for his goodness in your life?
