Good morning, beloved friends, the Holy Spirit indwells us, prays for us, essentially is our best friend. Yet, we address our prayers to our Father God, and we pray in Jesus’s name. Many of us do not think about the Holy Spirit and the work He does in our lives. As I was thinking about a song, Spirit of the Living God, I had to go to the internet and play the song.
“Spirit of the Living God, fall afresh on me, Spirit of the living God, fall afresh on me. Break me, melt me, mold me, fill me.”
Usually, I am very careful what I pray for — like I do not pray for patience, because I feel that I am tested more after praying for patience. I don’t know if I want the Holy Spirit to “break me” yet is there something unpleasant in me that needs to be confessed? Melt me, make me willing to confess and stop the ungodliness and change the behavior. Are you with me sweet friend? Perhaps it is gossip, or your thoughts are ugly of a particular person.
I love the idea of the Holy Spirit molding me, whether I need to speak kinder words to my husband or perhaps even to myself. What do I need to do in order for the Holy Spirit to be able to mold me? What about you, is there something you need to change?
Yes, Lord, fill me with your Holy Spirit. You promised the gift of a comforter, a helper, to indwell us. Let me quickly confess any sins so that I am not grieving the Holy Spirit. Fill me, Lord, let me be filled so that I understand God’s Word, so that I am an instrument of peace, so that I am not filled with anxiety.
We receive the fruit of the Spirit from the Holy Spirit. He enables us to show love–when the person is unlovable, rude, or mean. He gives us joy– in the midst of trials and struggles. He is the one who gives us peace– when our home is destroyed by a tornado or we lose our hearing due to a brain tumor. He enables longsuffering or patience–when everything seems to be against us or God is silent or does not answer our prayers quickly. He provides kindness– kindness of strangers, kindness of family, when one least expects kindness, kindness appears. He gives us the ability to recognize goodness, and allows us to experience His faithfulness, gentleness, and self- control. Have you ever camped on these gifts? Without the Holy Spirit in your life, none of these would exist within you?
Today, I am praying for Erica who lost her home in a recent storm, and I am praying for my cousin who is undergoing surgery for a brain tumor that cost him hearing in his left ear. Kevin will need prayer for healing. I have two friends undergoing breast cancer treatment Lorie and Carol. I have many more on my list. Who are you praying for?
The Holy Spirit is the one who prompts us to pray. Are you listening and praying? I have another sweet friend, going through a transition by moving to another town, pray for Karen. My friend Shannan is struggling with her blood pressure, and Crissy has a sinus infection.
Recently on the dusty road, at the hospital, I met two sweet people that impressed me and encourage me to pray for healing for them. Vanessa and Mildred.
I continue the quest to read Dr. David Jeremiah’s book, “The Holy Spirit Yon May Not Know.” I am writing my prayers, and God’s word. I am on Chapter 6 of Romans. I use the word ACTS to write out my prayers. Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, and Supplication. By the way, I use a purple pen. Join me.
What are you reading? What scripture are you writing?
