Adventures On The Dusty Road, Holy Spirit Introduction

Good afternoon, beloved friends, summer is here in Mansfield, MO. What are your summer plans?

Today, we bought a barbeque grill for our front porch. We have a porch bench that moves like a swing that belonged to my dad. I would love to have an old-fashioned porch swing like I had in my home when I was a child. Currently, I am still looking for a couple of chairs and table, so we can spend some time out on the front porch.

Where do you spend leisure time with your family? What about your quiet time with God?

For my quiet time, I have a couple of places, one is in my living room and the other in my bedroom. But I wouldn’t mind having a place on the porch. Often, I utilize the car, while my husband drives, I will read in the car.

Today. I started reading a book on the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit You May Not Know by Dr. David Jeremiah. He asks early in the book –do you know the Spirit?  The Holy Spirit, The Holy Ghost.

Who is the Holy Spirit, The Holy Ghost? He is God, He is the third person in the trinity, He is God. We know Him because we receive Him when we accept Jesus as our personal savior.

Jesus promised that he would send another Helper. We immediately saw the results in Peter’s life. Prior to Christ death, he denied Christ three times and yet after the death and resurrection of Jesus, Peter receives the Holy Spirit at Pentecost and then he preaches a sermon and 3,000 are saved.

The Holy Spirit is God. He hovered over the waters at creation. He was there when man was created. The Spirit gave Joseph wisdom and favor when his brothers betrayed him and then he led the nations through a famine. The Spirit gave David the strength to face Goliath and the wisdom to be King. The Spirit gave Bezalel the skill to design the tabernacle.

What has the Spirit done for you? In John 14:26, the Holy Spirit teaches. Daily, he teaches me. In Romans 8: 26, the Holy Spirit intercedes for us. I have had those moments when I was distraught and did not know how to pray but yet, I felt the peace that only God can give.

I am learning so much from this book and I highly recommend it. There is a workbook of the same title.

Today I am praying that I will have a fresh awareness of the Holy Spirit. After all, the Holy Spirit is the one who gives you courage to speak, He is the one who helps you recall scripture, understand scripture and yes, prays for you when you don’t have the words to pray. I am praying that you will have a fresh awareness of the Holy Spirit.

How can I pray for you?

What time do you have your quiet time?

I enjoyed reading this. I feel the spirit a lot because I’m always being tempted by something…whether it’s food or when I’m about to leave a comment on social media that I shouldn’t. I feel that Holy Spirit nudge and I know exactly what is happening. I’m so thankful that we were given the Holy Spirit to help us live our lives, giving discernment and direction.

This is so good, Diana! I was just thinking about the Holy Spirit yesterday! I love that when we are praying and at a loss for words, we can ask the Holy Spirit to intercede and we can feel that peace that only He can provide! Thank you for this post today! I hope you have a wonderful weekend and enjoy that new grill!
