Whispers

God whispers rejoice. Enthusiasm defeats disappointment,

Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice. Philippians 4:4

When was the last time you were filled with enthusiasm, so excited that you could not contain your joy?

Perhaps, you heard the good news that you were going to be a mom or received a glowing review at work.

Enthusiasm defeats disappointment, God whispers- to rejoice.

Disappointment

Yesterday, I shared a time; I was disappointed, this disappointment forced me to look for a new job. There was not much enthusiasm in the prospects of changing positions.

I still loved the one I had, however, have you heard the saying, “the handwriting was on the wall?”

Bible Story

This is found in Daniel 5: 5, the King was using the wine glasses from the temple that were sacred, and he was being

Then they brought the golden vessels that were taken out of the temple of the house of God which was at Jerusalem; and the king, and his princes, his wives, and his concubines, drank in them.

They drank wine, and praised the gods of gold, and of silver, of brass, of iron, of wood, and of stone.

In the same hour came forth fingers of a man’s hand, and wrote over against the candlestick upon the plaister of the wall of the king’s palace: and the king saw the part of the hand that wrote.

Judgment proclaimed from the disrespect. Daniel interpreted the inscription, and the king was slain. Pretty scary stuff. My situation was not this dramatic.

Whispers from God

I knew I could not stay in the current environment, and I truly felt that my job was at risk.

Fear had invaded my life; I was afraid I was going to lose my job.
A friend of mine would pray with me before I would go to work. I prayed that I would not jump into the murky waters that I would stay in the boat. I prayed that God would lead me to the right job.
I heard there were openings in case management at the hospital. So I applied. I had an interview, and I had to trust.

Beloved, fear is not from God.

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:7.

While waiting on the whispers of God, I prayed. We had recently suffered the loss of our home to a faulty loan, and so I did not need to make as much money as I was making. It was hard not to be enthusiastic at the prospects of being hired in this new position. The interview went well.

I kept listening for God to tell me that it was going to be okay. I felt as though the interview went well. Yet, I did not hear right away. However, I had done all I could do, and so I waited. I did experience the peace of God that it was okay.

A time to rejoice

Conclusion

The telephone rang a week after the interview, and I answered. “Yes, this is Diana Rockwell.”

“We would like to offer you the position of Case Manager.”

Enthusiastically, I said YES! She said you haven’t heard what the pay, “I accept the job; I am sure the pay is fair.”

Beloved, God whispers. He loves us and wants what is best for us. We can be filled with fear when the news is scary, and yet, we can be filled with awe and enthusiasm when the news is good.

When have you experienced enthusiasm?
