31 Day Writings

God, I”ve some burdens.

Beloved, our word is a burden. The definition of burden is a load, typically a heavy one. The word burden is in the Bible 49 times. Burdens come in all sizes and shapes. What are the burdens that you are carrying?

Did you ever watch Gilligan’s Island? A television show where they went for a three-day cruise and ended up shipwrecked. This is what happens with Moses. He is to lead the Israelites out of the Eqypt to the Promised Land, A short journey. But because of disobedience, they were stuck roaming in the desert.

We read about Moses in Chapter 11 of Numbers, where the people are complaining and how the people are a burden.

Number 11: 10-15

10 Moses heard the people of every family wailing at the entrance to their tents. The Lord became exceedingly angry, and Moses was troubled. 11 He asked the Lord, “Why have you brought this trouble on your servant? What have I done to displease you that you put the burden of all these people on me? 12 Did I conceive all these people? Did I give them birth? Why do you tell me to carry them in my arms, as a nurse carries an infant, to the land you promised on oath to their ancestors? 13 Where can I get meat for all these people? They keep wailing to me, ‘Give us meat to eat!’ 14 I cannot carry all these people by myself; the burden is too heavy for me. 15 If this is how you are going to treat me, please go ahead and kill me—if I have found favor in your eyes—and do not let me face my own ruin.”

Thoughts

Beloved, Moses honestly tells God how he is feeling. Now we live in a sin-filled world, and we suffer the consequences of this world, but we can be honest with God in our prayers. We do not have to sugar-coat how we feel when praying to God.

We read in Psalm

“Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior,
    who daily bears our burdens.
Our God is a God who saves;
from the Sovereign Lord comes escape from death. Psalm 68-19-2

Sweet friend, daily, He bears our burdens.

For example, my sweet friend Barbie had a tree fall on their house, her burden is significant, but at the same time, it could have been greater because no one was injured. Yes, her family is still displaced from their home, the insurance company seems nonexistent, and living out of a hotel is not fun, but none of them were injured. Will you join me in praying for her family and their needs?

I have another precious online friend whose Grandmother has been placed in Hospice. She is home with her, helping the Hospice team give Grandma whatever she needs to make her life the best. Shannon, you are loved.

I have a sweet friend whose son recently went through a mental health crisis. Letting go of our adult children is so hard.

Updates

Karen still awaits surgery, but her husband bought her a new recliner so she can be more comfortable. Lori will undergo more chemotherapy soon. Kath is recovering from gastric surgery and needs prayer for ongoing healing and weight loss. Nancy is doing well with her chronic fatigue, but her sweet husband needs healing from a respiratory bug. Nancy is unique in how she paces herself. I haven’t mentioned Judy, who broke her ankle severely last year. She faces pain daily but does much to meet the needs of others. Ginny could use our prayers as well for her family. My sister-in-law Deb has to have foot surgery this summer. My brother Dale is in constant pain. My other sister-in-law Debbie is changing jobs.

My grandson is graduating in May. He wants to go into the Army and has to retake the test, and he will take it in May. Last but not least, I have cataract surgery today, May 1. I am blind in my left eye. The cataract is in my right eye.

I may not have mentioned you by name, but my prayer is that you give your burdens to the Lord. If you have a prayer concern, please let me know.

In reading Lysa TerKeurst’s book, “You; ‘re Going to Make It,”

A statement to remember, ” We shouldn’t try to do what only God can do.”

“Today and everyday God knows and loves you.”

Conclusion

God invites us to come unto him. Daily we are invited to join God where He is already working. We are encouraged to trust and obey, for there is no other way to be happy in Jesus.

  1. Turn to God
  2. Read His Word
  3. Pray
  4. Lay Your Burdens Downs

The Israelites were stubborn and non-repentant; God did not respond well to their meat demands. However, God cares about our burdens.

Prayer.

Father God,

Thank you for loving and caring for us. You are the only one I can give my burdens to that can answer our prayer. Lord, I uplift each of my readers and ask that you draw them closer to you. Sometimes our burdens are so many. I pray for those hurting, sick, and financially troubled. Lord, meet the needs and ease the burdens in Jesus’ name. Amen

What burden do you need to give to God?

The verse says, Come to me, when do you meet with the Lord?

Will you join me in praying for these needs?

Thank you for this. We do have so many burdens. And then I think of our dear friend Christy, who lost her son last night. I can’t imagine. We serve a big and mighty God who can handle all of this. Praying for you and surgery today. Love you my friend❤️
