Whispers

God whispers three life-changing habits.

God whispers three life-changing habits.

Did you know it takes at least twenty-one days to create a habit? Definition of habit is a settled or regular tendency or practice, tough to give up. Some patterns are not suitable for you, such as smoking. Others like exercise are great.

Do you have any weird habits? What are your bad habits?

Beloved, three habits are life-changing. A life-changing practice is one that changes you for the better. Before discussing the three life-altering habits, let’s look at a man in the Bible that one might consider he had a strange ritual. Can you guess who he is?

Read with me this verse in Mark,

And John was clothed with camel’s hair, and with a girdle of a skin about his loins; and he did eat locusts and wild honey; Mark 1: 4.

John the Baptist had a strange habit of what he ate and what he wore.  However, he knew the scriptures, and he preached that Jesus was the Messiah.

Three habits one should incorporate daily praying, studying God’s word, and walking in forgiveness.

What habit can you incorporate?

Praying

The first habit is prayer, and this is a critical habit. Praying ushers us into the presence of God. We are told that the effective prayer of a righteous person availeth much.

Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” James 5:16. KJV.

I’ve followed Becky Tirabassi for many years, and over thirty years, she spends at least an hour with God daily; she writes her prayers and reads her Bible. I love writing my prayers because it helps me focus and, yes, stay awake.

God whispers pray, pray, and keep on praying.

Reading and Studying

The second habit is to read, memorize, and study God’s word. Becky suggests using a yearly Bible so that you read through the Bible in a year. I am involved in several groups that help me study God’s word. One is Love God Greatly, and the study just started is Mark. Bible Study Fellowship is studying the book of Genesis. Additionally, there is an app from Proverbs31.org called First 5, and over the last five years, they have studied the whole Bible. The new study that is starting is the study of Philippians.

Beloved, the bottom line is daily read the Bible.

Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.

I will meditate in thy precepts, and have respect unto thy ways.

I will delight myself in thy statutes: I will not forget thy word. Psalm 119: 11, 15-16. KJV.

God whispers I will meet you when you read my word.

Forgiveness

This is an important discipline, to walk in forgiveness. Daily things happen that cause us angst. I choose to forgive _____for______and it made me feel______. I’ve learned to walk in forgiveness and how important forgiveness is in our lives.

We are able to forgive because God has forgiven us so much.

Currently, a book I am reading is Forgiving What You Can’t Forget by Lysa Terkeurst and it is an excellent resource.

Conclusion

Daily, choose the good habits and let go of the bad habits. Let go of procrastination and embrace giving your day to God and spend time with Him by praying, reading, studying, memorizing God’s Word. Then learn to forgive quickly it will prevent bitterness.

Which of these habits do you need to cultivate?
