Whispers

God whispers three ways to rest in Jesus

God whispers three ways to rest in Jesus.

So then, there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God,  for whoever has entered God’s rest has also rested from his works as God did from his. Hebrews 4: 9-10. ESV.

Good Morning Beloved Friends, I love to take naps so this passage of scripture on rest is right up my alley. Before I retired, when asked what was my plans for the weekend, I would say “take a nap.”

However, the writer of Hebrews has an urgency about “today”. “Today” is the day that the Lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad. Psalm 118:24 declares this truth.  Today is the day of salvation. As we read in Hebrew 4: 1-10, I was impressed again by the urgency of accepting Jesus as your savior. As we accept him as our Savior, we receive so many spiritual blessings and one of them is rest.

What are your struggles?

We can rest from striving to be the best, we can rest from struggling with our past, we can rest from the anxiety of the future because we have the assurance that the work Jesus did on the cross is enough, and when we believe we are eternally secure. Nothing we can do can make Jesus love us more.

When I finally realized this, that nothing I can do can add to the work Jesus did on the cross and that He loves me as I am, I wanted to shout it from the rooftops. Yet, we may have a loved one that has not accepted Jesus as their Savior. He or she is lost and does not have access to the rest that is a part of our spiritual heritage, do you know that we can be assured of our salvation?

Will you rest?

We can rest in Jesus’s work on the cross. The First Five App is from Proverbs 31.org, it is an application one can access from your cell phone or you can go to https://first5.org/ and access the reading.  We are currently we are studying Hebrews. As I spent time in the optional workbook that you can get from the Proverbs 31.org bookstore, I was impressed that salvation is offered to all but not everyone will accept the offer. Lastly, we do not have to strive to please God. Beloved, as the verse in Deuteronomy, promises we can rest secure in him, The redeeming work of Christ gives us the ability to rest. R=redeemed, E=Eternal Life, S=santification, T=Trust in the Lord, today.

Yes, I love a good nap, whether it is twenty minutes or an hour, I wake up refreshed. Do you need to be refreshed, will you rest in your salvation? What is one truth you can take away from today’s passage? Who can you be praying for to accept Jesus as Lord and Savior?

Three Ways

The three ways to rest in Jesus are to accept Jesus as your Savior (John 3:16), to realize that nothing can separate you from the love of Christ (Romans 8), and to trust in Jesus for today whatever tomorrow brings (Proverbs 3: 5-6).

Father God, may we rest in the redeeming work of Jesus. May we accept His Gift of Salvation, His love, and His forgiveness of our sins, may we trust only in you for our today and our tomorrows. May we serve you with gladness. In Jesus’s name. Amen

What is one truth you can take away from today’s passage? Who can you be praying for to accept Jesus as Lord and Savior?
