Have you ever asked, Why?

Beloved, have you ever voiced the question ‘Why?’

“Why God?” is often asked when a child is sick, there is not enough money to pay your bills, a husband strays, your loved one betrays you, you are unable to find a job, or you suffer from a chronic illness.

The word Why is in the Bible 261 times. Fifteen times in the Psalms.

Christ is in the Psalms. There are many prophecy Psalms. Psalm 22 is one of them.

Psalm 22

Thoughts

Even the Psalmist ask the question Why.  Read with me the plea in Psalm 22.

My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? why art thou so far from helping me, and from the words of my roaring? Psalm 22:1.

Jesus in the depth of despair echoes these words in Psalm in the gospel of Matthew 27:46. Then in verses 7, and 8 of Psalm 22 Jesus will be mocked and scorned is fulfilled in Luke 23:35. Additionally Psalm 22:16, his hands and feet will be pierced is fulfilled in John 20: 25, 27. In Psalm 22:18, others will gamble for his clothes is fulfilled in Matthew 27: 35-36.

If our Lord Jesus can ask “Why”, we certainly can ask why. Is there someone mocking you?

Conclusion

I’ve many times in my life, when I asked Why? Looking back all I see is God’s faithfulness. He is the alpha, the omega, the beginning the end.

I suffer with chronic illness and yet God is with me, he gives me the strength to go on each day. What is God giving you the strength to do?

Father God, thank you for answering my Why’s. You are an amazing loving father. Father God, we are depending on you. Thank you that you are there in my why’s. In Jesus name, Amen.

I have a tattoo, on my right shoulder, depicting Jesus, with the crown of thorns, reminding me that even Jesus said “My God, my God-Why have you forsaken me? Jesus knew God had not forsaken Him bit in that time of extreme pain, both physically and spiritually, he asked why. God is ok with me asking why too, in moments of weakness, and always reminds me that what I see is temporary and I need to trust Him in my whys.
