31 Day Writings

Hidden-We can’t hide from God.

Beloved, our word is hidden in the Bible 92 times, and we all know what hidden means– to hide, to keep out of sight, concealed. Hid is in the Bible 229 times.

As a child, we sometimes played a game where we hid from one another. It was so much fun. Sometimes as adults, we try to hide from God. Adam and Eve hid from God,

Now they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden. Genesis 3:8

The whole concept of hiding from God showed some warped thinking.

Beloved, the only way to prevent warped thinking is to hide God’s word in your heart. Daily, to read God’s word, pray, write, and be in God’s word. Love God Greatly just started a study in the book of Luke. The First Five from Proverbs 31.org started one this week in the book of Ruth. In her daily invitation, Becky Tirabassi invites you to read from the New Testament, the Old Testament, Psalms, and Proverbs.

Turning Point, Crosswalk.com, and many other online sites have daily devotionals to draw you closer to God.

So how do you hide God’s word in your heart? I think it is not only by reading it but by memorizing it. It is good to memorize where the verse is located in the Bible. The verses I know the best are those I learned as a child. But, buy some index cards, and write the verse. Another way is on notebook paper. Write it over and over again. Practice saying the verse out loud.

Be active in the process. Hide God’s Word, not your sins. We have this promise for the forgiveness of our sins.

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous, so that He will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9.

Father God, thank you for your word and that I can hide it in my heart so that I will not sin against you. In Jesus’s name, Amen

What is the first verse you will memorize?
